Ah, but we will have another 15 years of Wapsi Square before then!

To me, it seems thst Kath's very definite statements that "the Fae are not your enemy" and "You do not know the whole story" are strong indicators that Kath knows a bunch about Castela's background and history, that she hasn't yet discussed with Castela.
I'm not suggesting she learned this "today" as she was being poited in. Rather, I think that somebody has sat down with Kath in previous days/weeks/months, and given her a more complete history of the two youngsters she has adopted... just as any adoptive parent would want, if the information were available at all. Considering that she's a (somewhat unusual) human, adopting a pair of very unusual paranormals (one of whom is apparently unique) I would have expected her to
insist!
Kath could have been bluffing with the "you do not know the whole story" bit... but doing so would be likely to backfire, once Castela swallowed the narrative hook and asked "Ok, Mama, what
is the whole story?" Having to afmit "I don't know either, kiddo" would really undercut Mama Bear's authority, and I think Kath is certainly smart enough to have seen that trap and avoided it.
So... I think she knows something that neither we nor Castela do.

Well, I figured it was going to take Dr. GilChrist and a firm grip on the reins to regain control of the situation.

What is needed now is adoptive mom (or even grandmom or sister) to take (a) tough love stance that you have a family right here, right now, - US - , and we love you deeply just as you are, but you're causing us a great deal of embarrassment."
Back to the closet.

One would think Kath would have told Castela the true story by now. However, it may be that Kath felt it would be better to wait until she was older and could better handle it. Now it seems the point has been pressed to the extent that there is no choice in the matter. The torture and killing of Fae folk is probably frowned upon at this school. Even more so if the fae-tality in question happens to be royalty.
We, OTOH, may not be privy to the details this week, or even next. Paul has a habit of drawing this stuff out by changing the subject. I'm still waiting to find out what that "stars not giving off light" business was with Tina.

That was very timely wasn't it. Either the school monitors the halls and rooms very closely, which is quiet possible given the powers int he students. So they would be aware of the problem and call Kathy to get there right now!
OR
This isn't Kathy. It could be a glamor by Cricket, a shape changer like nudge pretending to be Kathy. If it is they have to know Kathy to duplicate the voice. The information Kathy says is nothing more than was said by Cricket. It doesn't reveal anything more but it does provide enough. Combined with the Mom voice and other comments it did stop Pickle which is the important thing. So we should find out tomorrow if this was the real Kathy or not.

This is the second time in less than 24 hours, Wapsi time, that Kath has had to use the FULL NAME on Castela. First to break up the fight between her and Atsali, and now this. Pickle is racking up a string of demerits here...
I am ASTONISHED at how quickly the school reacted, pulling Kath in just in time. I wonder if they monitor all students this closely, or if they're just keeping an eye on the ones capable of unleashing extreme destruction. If the school itself is sentient like the Library, that might explain the remarkable response.
Yep, I think we're going to get Castela's backstory soon.

Yep,when your mom uses your full name, you are in sooo much trouble! It's the reason behind middle names. But I'm wondering now about the fae that Pickle says she killed back at the orphanage. Ripped off its wings and popped off its head, were her words. Admittedly, she was an angry child who blamed them for her being 'thrown away' by her parents, but is there, or will there be, a price to pay for that?
And,does anyone else notice that she always just says' my parents'? Not 'my mom' or 'my dad'. Never referred to singularly, or by any formal or informal title-Mother,Pa, ect? Like she doesn't remember them at all, really.

This isn't a gossamer for one important reason: Cricket has no idea what Castela's name is (and definitely NOT her full name!)

She might. Obviously the Fae have kept tabs on her somewhat, they would not forget about the potential hazard Pickle could represent. Cricket was told about Pickle just didn't expect to run into her at the school. It is very possible the orphanage notified the Fae when Pickle was adopted. If they did the new name was provided. Crickets mother must have passed some of the information along, or Cricket found it out for herself.

When Annie moved in with the boys, the oldest one basically treated me as if I was responsible for the breakup of their parents- I was offering temporary shelter against a very controlling individual... that was 2006. They still live with me. Temporary my ...
Regardless, James took it to mind that I broke up his home- most of this was based on propaganda that daddy dearest was piping into the boy.
I can see where somebody gave the little one here a bum storyline and (being a small child) she bought it-
BUT- even though she can kill fae, she STILL has to answer to MOMMA!!!! It appears that Katherine just pulled rank on EVERYBODY!!! And knows the full story... as shall we in good time (I hope)
- James calls me "Poppa" these days... he is turning out just fine.
So will Castela.

So glad Kat showed up!

I think it's possible the school monitors their students closely due to the powers they wield, but it's also likely that one of the four bystanders ran for assistance when Castela began her stomping tirade...and that assistance summoned Kat.
jwhouk wrote:A thought: you think the Orphanage gave "normal" (or semi-normal) Katherine a "command voice" option to be able to control her paranormal charges?
"Miss Gilchrist, all you need to do is use their entire name and the words, 'BE STILL!' And they'll be compelled to stop and listen to you."
"Oh, you mean just like with my parents when I was at Andrews AFB?"
HA! I had a similar thought. This is the second time Kat's used "Be still!" to stop Castela in her tracks and get her under control. Either she's got an effective Mom Voice and those were the words her parent/guardian used to stop her in the midst of mischief...or those words have some sort of compulsion attached to them for our little sapling. Either way, I would
not want to be a kid on the wrong end of Mad Mama Kat.

This is an internet forum. Such fertile ground for epileptic trees that they spontaneously generate.

No, she was acting like an animal, which she is not. Thus, it was inappropriate behavior and being called on it even worse, because she is a plant. . .
consider any two ethnic groups at odds with each other. Lets call them x and y. If you were an x, the last thing you would want to hear from your parents would be "I will not have my child acting like a y ! ! !"
So there's that . . .

Fae can smell her--they know what she can do. If you were almost invincible, wouldn't you be keenly aware of what could actually kill you?
