I wouldn't be so sure without tasting it. Kids can have some... strange ideas about ingredients for cooking. Image
Yeah, we just know that it is a substance that can be described by some as "soup", not that it necessarily is edible. Or healthy to even be in the vicinity of. "I added some radium, to give you that radiant healthy glow!"

Then she'd also have to leave out any poultry. Her options for ingredients would be rather slim. Even rock soup would be iffy, given who three of her aunts are.
Let's hope they don't make friends with Sweetie, then they're options will really start to dwindle.

Um, or 'their'...

Aren't you guys missing the point? She's part vegetable ... and part animal. If vegetables are out, so are animals.

Out go the animal kingdom, the vegetable kingdom, and with certain of her aunts, the mineral kingdom.

What's left? Mushroom soup?

Even that could be a problem. Paranormals are a very diverse crowd.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mike Oh, one of her friends from the orphanage, was a real fun guy.

She may be limited to using prokaryotes... lifeforms without nuclei... bacteria and archaea.

Spirulina broth might be a possibility... it's not actually algae (plant kingdom) but cyanobacteria (Arthrospira species)... and any good heath-food store would have it available. It's pretty good stuff, nutritionally (if pure) although lack of real Vitamin B12 could be an issue. It might be just the right old-fashioned food-as-medicine for an artist with the flu... "good for you" and terrible-tasting... the sort of thing Grandma used to make you choke down ;)

At least she isn't likely to befriend Selkie...

The Virus Fairy, of course. She sneaks up behind unsuspecting folks and cold-cocks them; some are laid flat, no matter how prepared they think they are.

I'm thinking if there was a Spellchecker Savings Bank, it'd have more in it than the Pun Vault.
