I'm not necessarily saying the water will give the power, but it will affect just about any boy that sees her...
Good point. It will be interesting to see what happens in the water. Though it seems she may be in the girls only gym class at the moment so we may not find out here. Unless Siren's power also extends to females. This school may also do a bit of Jaguar Girl style discipline and make it's students face at least some of their worst fears. Paul can take any topic and make it a page turner.

I just have to pick a nit though. It's one thing for Atsali to be shown wearing the ultra short sexy-skirt and stockings in pinups, but I can't see any self-respecting school of any kind allowing it. It's just not realistic in this setting. Also, given her obvious desire not to stand out because of her breasts, I don't see her wearing something like that. She is obviously very concerned about not appearing slutty because of her siren ancestry (as shown here http://wapsisquare.com/comic/breathing-is-good/), and wearing that just screams slutty and "boys, look at ME!"; exactly what she is so afraid of concerning her breasts. It's just so contradictory. Okay, done with that and shall not be mentioned again.

School-issued swimsuits? I guess this is another aspect of school uniforms, but it's a concept that I'd never run into before.

C'mon, Atsali! I bet you swim like a duck!

Unless her bird form is a water bird I doubt it. It takes forever to dry feathers unless they are oiled. So don't depend on her swimming well. She knows how but probably only in human form. The sirens usually sang to sailors from an island, not in the water, to draw them to their doom. Most likely because they we sick of being treated as sex object, lol. So Sali's only hope is for her to break into a rendition of 'The Hill Are Alive...'. I'll let the rest of you fill in the imagery and the rest of the lines.

So, we're actually part way through the school year? (Start of 2nd quarter for gym class) I had been assuming the shopping trip was a back to school thing. :?

Apparently I have yet to grasp all the ins and outs of Wapsi-time. *sigh*

There is Irene Adler, from the Sherlock Holmes canon... Only one I can think of at the top of my head.
Polly Adler, whose house was not a home.

Of course, it means "eagle" in German.

Bets that Ms. Adler is part eagle? Or maybe Griffon?

Actually with a chest like that, she will float like a cork and swim like one too.

Yes the mandatory school issued swimsuit, in black or dark blue.
For girls, there are usually foam pads in the bust designed to prevent the popup thermometer syndrome. At my school they also had a short skirt attached to hide the camel toe--so just 30 years out of date.

For Boys, extremely baggy knee length shorts with a built in banana hammock, specifically designed to hide your junk and/or prevent "pup tent' syndrome. It was like trying to swim dragging a parachute. . .The swim and waterpolo teams on the other hand wore speedos, and you had to be a bit of an exhibitionist to wear those.

Oh the joys of youth, how I miss thee not.

The hills are alive
with the sound of mucus,
Cause winter is here
and I have a cold...

More likely mermaid.

Yeah. Can she actually dive underwater? She will make a poor "victim" in lifesaving drills.

"Com'on Atsali, roll over face down in the water!"
"You gotta be kidding!"

Or if she's in trouble in the water;

"OMG! Quick! Throw her a floatation thing!"
"Why?"

It's a school uniform (dress code) Atsali had to buy a new on at the mall shop to fit her new frame. Junior high and up at the paranormal school have the kids wearing uniforms.

This is an issue in France. At all public pools, there is a standard swimsuit that must be worn by all, regardless of body shape. Skimpy speedo-type boy shorts for men, and something startlingly similar to what Atsali is wearing. There were always a few well-endowed females every time we went swimming, and some of them looked like they were ready to fall out of their suits if caught in the slightest of breezes. But being France, there was non of the self-consciousness that Sali is showing.

@LadyoftheMasque, I enjoyed reading your post. I do not know many women of your size and so I know nothing of the challenges you must face except for this comic and forum.
( you too, Julie! ;-) )

Nothing like getting thrown into the deep end of the body image pool the first day back to school. Stuff like this is one reason I have little patience with school uniforms.

But will make an excellent rescuer - but will her 'victims' appreciate it?

I think you'll find those are legwarmers, not stockings. In Minneapolis, that's probably pretty common for much of the year.

As for uniforms - well, it is Minnesota. You know how they are over there. ;)

(Teasing, Pablo. Teasing. It's required, according to a very-little-known Wisconsin state statute.)

I'm a little disappointed it's tomorrow already.

I was having fun watching them have fun at the mall.
I wanted to see what Castela thought of Da Bears in their human form.
(And I was hoping Castela's weird eyes saw it was them.)
Has Castela ever gotten the ' Sometimes we wear pretend faces" talk,
or is she still too young?

Also...

I wanted to see Atsali and mom discussing the "situation' with her appearance
and her clothing choices.
("Covering up your boobs doesn't mean you can uncover your ass!")

Also...

On a scale from "none at all" to "it's my thing", just how shape shiftery is Atsali?
She can de-talon her feet and hide her wings. Is that it? She can't subtract a few cup sizes?

Good grief, you guys. At the moment, I'm content to paraphrase Freud: Sometimes a last name is JUST a last name. After all, Mr. Meadows is part crocodile (a species that is not commonly found in actual meadows, I'm sure).
And if Mrs. Adler is part griffon, I doubt she'd appreciate having her relatives on display at a zoo.

I was just adding the name of a [more-or-less] (in)famous woman whose last name was Adler, in response to the previous post.
