My son says that to anyone annoying Miss Julie:

1. Bury them in pillows,
2. Cover it with a king sized comforter,
3. Repeat until Miss Julie is no longer annoyed.

He did this to a friend of mine once who annoyed me, then foolishly fell asleep in the La-Z-Boy rocker/recliner. I was bringing in the rest of the laundry from the clothesline, so coming into a mountain of pilows and blankets where once a chair was, was highly amusing...especially when nature called my friend....very urgently.

Hope you weren't too late.

You definitely have an awesome son!

You didn't happen to video the nature-calls awakening, did you? The thrashing-around would have made perfect blackmail (err, "YouTube") material!

Nope, but all I have to say is, "Chair Fort", and they either turn red, or end up walking around to wake up.

Yesterday was Grandparents day at school. My Father is still recovering from a respiratory infection, and seeing as how my Mother had recently gotten back from visiting my Sister, had no vacation time, and had to work, couldn't go either. After school, in the guise of laundering my ultra large blankets at the coin-op(cause I'd rather spend $10 on a load of blankets there than do them at home and have them come out somewhat clean(they are huge even in a large capacity machine), I took him out for fun times at the local playland, and got us some junk food. One of the people in there apparently was a baby-sitter, and had taken the kids she watched to both the land of arches, and BK, so I ended up going there afterward to grab the Halloween buckets(Angry Birds Star Wars...last year it was Scooby-Doo), and a treat or two extra.

I am one of those weird Mothers that sees junk food as a treat, and keep a card of arches loaded for fun days. On most days I cook(even if it is cheap microwave burritos), and he'd rather eat breakfast at home then have it at school(which every kid can have whether or not they can afford it, which is awesome), except for Friday, which is mini pancake day--I don't blame him, those mini pancakes are awesome.
I was raised that Junk food, like Candy, is a treat. Even in the busiest days, I make sure to cook something. This time of year, I make a lot of chicken and dumplings. I'm trying to convince him to let me make some stuffed pepper soup. Maybe I'll go and get some pretzel bagels...

Ah, the treat that is candy -- especially Movie Candy! Anybody remember these?

As a kid, it wasn't a movie with out the soda and popcorn -- but -- what do you do when they're gone? Time to enjoy, nay, savor... a pack of Chuckes every so slowly... one at a time... to make them last to the very end of the movie.

Yes, it was a test of wills. How to pace yourself, knowing that you had five and only five treats left. The soda and popcorn had taken you through the opening credits, the setup, and the first chase scene, and left you somewhere in the middle of the exposition and conflict as Our Hero(s) made their way toward the MacGuffin, despite terrible odds. So -- which first? The mint? The orange? Or just start at the Cherry end? I had to save the licorice piece for last, you know, but did I get the lemon piece out of the way early or use it to set up the licorice? Decisions, decisions... Oh no! The surprise attack! Whatever will they do now?

Mmmmmm....

This! I'm a frugal, single Mom. I KNOW you can buy them cheap at wallyworld before the movie and secret them in the big Mom purse(or in the long coats inner coat pockets), but somehow it just tastes better buying them at the theatre.

On the subject of Chuckles. I have two siblings, so two packages of those, three children. My sister always got her faves, most peoples least fave(black). They were mean and always gave me orange, so it left me to choose what I wanted as my final one. My sister didn't care, as she got her fave twice. My Brother always got a mix. Toughest decisions, especially being the oldest...:p

I do love those, but when you have two siblings, not sharing was not an option. When tickets were $1, even back then the concessions were expensive. A whole $.75 for a box of candy was a weeks allowance for your candy, and being the oldest, if I got the Chuckles, there was a good chance that Mother would buy another packet so that they could be shared a bit better.

Why not just take a pocket-knife and cut each into thirds, so that in the end each of you siblings could get a couple of pieces from each flavour?

My parents solution for me and my brother's sharing woes (His piece is bigger than mine!) was to have one of us divide it, the other got first pick.

It made for some very even spits...

Back in the early 80's, in a darkened theater? Yeah, not so much. Even at 12 years old, I only could have my knives at home where nosy idiots had no say in it.
