Somebody gets to freeze a certain gorgon out of the game...
"Ophidia, ophidia,
we're sorry to be rid o' ya,
Your snaky locks have graced these sands
but you must leave for other lands.
Your hopes of ruling now must sink
for you've become the weakest link."
Hell of a thing it is... I wake up, I haven't even had my first cuppa coffee yet, and somehow I'm finding myself channeling the spirit of Groucho Marx. He didn't even ask, first.

In a sense, yes... using all your votes now requires downvoting some deserving and popular characters. I don't think the rules as stated actually require that one use both (or either) downvotes in order to up-vote, but not doing so might just prolong the agony.
It could work out as a straight, clean race to the top between K and M.
Or, certain people might try to use their no-negation-fu to turn it into a nasty swamp-mud-wrestling match, and hope that the result survives the inevitable appeal to the Supreme Court.

What you don't know is, the first character eliminated in the voting becomes the Supreme Court Chief Justice....

I get the feeling I sat down at what I thought was a game of bridge, only to find that it's actually a game of Fizbin, and that the Mad Hatter has the deal
Or, possibly, it's Dragon Poker. Same thing, really.
Unless a lot of other forum folks suddenly take an interest and vote, in as little as four more votes we may be down to a contest between Monica and Kathrine. Unless it is a very close race at that time, it may be best to just call the election and give the island crown to the lady with the majority of the votes cast.
1. As of 8:00 PM CDT on July 4, 2014, we will return to one up/one down until our "Queen" is crowned.
2. All characters will return to [5] votes at that time.
3. The double-reverse rule will also cease at that time. (You can up-vote someone else's down vote).
4. If no winner can be determined before 11:59 PM CDT on July 10, 2014, whoever has the higher number of votes will be the ruler; the lower number will be the "crown princess."

I think Aed may have jumped the gun on the reset by 12 hours... but as the reset and rules-change seems to been pushed through by executive action while the Legislature was out of session for the holiday I guess we might as well go with the flow
