Don't you have a new baseball park to go to out in Cobb County or something? :P ;)

That musty old "cricket" joke definitely qualifies as corn on the Cobb.

How about a mix of easy and hard images? Working on an image too long can get dreary. ^_^

So here's an easy one. I still love pencil, but my scanner is getting very noisy and adds loads of digital snow that I have to clean up. :-(

Very cute drawings, Dragonaur. :)

What file type is your scanner saving to? If JPG then the compression would be the culprit. I always save to BMP first.

Thanks!

I always generate BMP (at 400 dpi) files since I always process them before saving a copy for the web in jpg. I think the problem is plastic outgassing. You can actually see the scum on the glass on the scanner side. I'm going to take it apart one of these days. But I'd better be ready to get a new scanner! >_<

What did you do, let it eat some of Bud's chili?
Actually though, that sucks. I took my old scanner apart a few times. There always seemed to be a smudge or two that would magically still be there when the light came on even if it looked spotless after cleaning and I made sure to not touch the surface before reassembly. What I really need to do with my current one is to see if there is a way to adjust the alignment so things won't come out crooked by a couple of pixels anymore.

Ditto the cute!

You might want to try 600 dpi, grayscale then do an Adjust Levels to push the light / dark to where you want it. Scale down afterwards will make a lot of ick simply disappear.

And yes, scanner fog will always make things tough. If you're lucky, the top face comes off with just a few screws undone. A few drops of dish detergent in water to dampen a washcloth, then just water on another. Let dry and use tissue to remove the lint. Worked for me, anyway! Good luck -- plenty of decent scanners out there at good prices for the holidays!

Another good one Dragonaur.
I had to get a new scanner on my last trip home. (the gears were stripping out on the hand crank)

It's a hard working scanner. So I indulge it from time to time! >_<

I consider myself fairly mechanical, but I'm loathe to take my scanner apart!

I've tried that. No dice. The best thing is messing with the levels. That gets rid of a bunch of junk. Now since I'm digital inking more, I don't firm up my lines as much so they're lighter and blend with the smoke a bit more. Yes, I should wait until christmas is a bit closer and then attempt to service this old printer! >_<

I could NOT resist! I should have put more work into her shoulders. I've been on a muscle drawing jag lately. ^_^; For awhile I once thought Paul was drawing Shelly a bit too muscular. I see now that's not possible! >_<

This is my second scanner. The first one was a UMAX that was sooooo slooooow! But it wasn't hand cranked powered! >_< This one is an Epson. Sometimes it's good to update just to get faster more capable equipment.

Thanks it turned out to be a lot of work. But I've really been wanting to draw a motorbike sketch for so long, so Shelly was perfect.

Nice job, Wdot! Excellent use of textures. (Something I still under-use)
Did you find reference or is this your choice of colors?

Looks about right to me. I was hoping for cast pages with artwork on the website, but no...
