That thing is really disturbing, shadowinthelight! It contains enough cognitive dissonance to require a "Warning, this will make your teeth ache" black-label disclaimer.

Excellent work!

Something about that baby inspires me. :) If you think that was disturbing, be glad I decided against my original idea of doing a full video version with a re-recording of the Nyan Cat song substituting the lyric of "nyan" with "thup".

Oh, thank goodness. I was afraid you were going to do a thupful version of "The Popcorn Song" and couldn't really wrap my brain around what you might do for a video for it...

For better or worse, Dily, you've single-handedly created a whole new musical genre.

I can see somebody respinning some classic Devo:

We can Thup it!
Thup it good!

Or, if you want something in a classic 70's progressive style... just imagine a whole room of people dancing the foxtrot, to the strains of Genesis (Peter Gabriel on vocals of course) performing the 15-minute-long psychedelic ballad "Thupper's Ready":

Eyes so dark,
Siren's wings,
They have come to take the children home,
to save them from the Nu Gui golem!

Your innovation has all sorts of promise and potential. If, that is, we aren't all torn apart by enraged mobs! 8-)

So, a short version? The original is 22 minutes long.

Aah, you're right no doubt... I was too tired to bother grabbing the CD to check the recording time. :( I'm sure they occasionally shaved a minute or two from it when playing up-tempo in concert, but seven minutes would require major surgery that would have messed it up pretty badly.

I saw them perform this in Rochester NY on the "Selling England by the Pound" tour in '73 or thereabouts... opened with "Watcher Of The Skies", closed with "The Musical Box". Who needs drugs when you can see Peter Gabriel in his quick-change stage costumes? :D

...well, I'm imagining that now. Fortunately, I can't disagree: It would be kind of awesome.

The late great Mr Price did his voice work for Thriller in 1983. His last screen roles were 'Edward Scissorhands' in 1990 and a TV movie 'The Heart of Justice' in 1992. He passed in 1993 from lung cancer and had suffered from Emphysema and Parkinson.
(He was a particular favorite of mine growing up)

He did do a bug zapper commercial. I just thought we needed some actual cackling by him... (apparently this was from the mid-1980s)
