I still haven't had time to look for the link, but the answer is Dietzel. He and Monica were sharing a pizza, and he was taking out the anchovies, with a disgusted look on his face. Monica teased him a little, as to the fact that it's only fish. Besides, you don't have any problem eating menudo, she adds, causing Dietzel to have a surprised/horrified look on his face. Monica then said something to the effect of "Didn't you know that menudo is made with fish?"

If someone finds the link first, they can feel free to ask the next question.

Yes, thank you for that. I actually looked up the definition, but was sure she still said fish. Not having the link didn't help...

Actually, we're both wrong.

When Dietzel pointed out, and then rejected the anchovies on the pizza she'd ordered, Monica referred to Dieztel happily gobbling down some of her menudo. When he looked startled said she "Oh good grief! Are you telling me you don't know what's in menudo?"

So, she didn't say that menudo contained tripe... or fish.

Now that you found the link, we anxiously await your question... :D

I have to admit, I'm glad I said "something to the effect of", instead of claiming my words to be a direct quote from Monica... :)

Sorry for the delay, guys... I was on the way home, picking up some tasty carnitas burritos for dinner (no tripe or fish involved, as far as I know).

Q: Why did one character make an indelicate reference to the naughty bits of a simian?

Oooh, I like that one.

It's all Jin's fault. She took out the bathroom wall at the Cerberus Club, and the resulting shaking of the walls knocked a certain apo-sphinx-to-be's Echidna Martini out of her hands... and this resulted.

That wasn't the most expensive thing one of our characters purchased in the strip, though.

"What did our heroine (and Jaguar Girl) once purchase for $1,556.85?"

HINT: It wasn't a bra...

I know that, I looked it up. But combine a lack of a relevant link at the time, with a faulty memory, and the fact that Dietzel was disgusted with anchovies at the beginning of the strip (I remembered at least that...) and, well... That's why I assumed she had said fish.

Ha! If I had taken the time to go look for it, I would have zoomed right by... the first thing I would have checked was where Tepoz was called in to de-drunk the girls, and sobered-up Jin was left holding Tepoz' cheek, but I'm pretty sure she called him a runt, and nothing else... So I would have been just a few strips past the relevant one...

Oh, I know that... I think you missed the earlier part of our discussion, where I was trying to make exactly that point.

Before looking: would it be the case of russian-made vacuum tubes?

*goes looking...*

Edit: never mind... no price is mentioned for the case of tubes...

No, but apparently she did spend two large on a stereo system... if that gives you a hint.

And she also once spent $5000 on a pair of mono block amplifiers.

I'm still looking but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the speakers. If I recall (haven't found it yet), there were two speakers per speaker box, and Tepoz thought it was overkill, which was utter nonsense to Monica...

Uh, lakewrangler, would you like to take a second look at the strip that you just linked to?
