If Pratt is as aware of Brandy's 'credentials' as she and McBride were of Monica's, we may be about to get a tongue tied vampire.

PyP, we discovered her name when she got "the book" that told her how to build the mirror ball.

Right here... October 17, 2008. I presume it's her birth-family name, and reflects her apparent north-African heritage. Dunno if it correlates to any African languages or cultures still existing today... Lanthis was a long time ago and that whole part of the continent was glassed down, so it's possible that Brandi is the sole cultural survivor of her group-of-origin.

(and, folks... it's a minor thing I admit, but her name is "Brandilyn" and in-strip it has always been shortened to "Brandi". Not "Brandy". For some reason, seeing the latter mis-spelling feels like listening to a phonograph needle being dragged sideways across a record... and if you're young enough to have never heard that particular sound in real life, consider yourself blessed! ;) )

Yep.

It was on That Book, if nowhere else.

Quoting Wikipedia:
Oduya is a surname, common among the Luo ethnic group in Kenya.
Recent people with that name include two Norwegian hockey players.

Well, there is a swedish (!!!) hockey player named Oduya, but I doubt Brandi is swede ;)
In fact, it appears it is a kenyan origin name, and that would be coherent with her look.

I think we can just chalk it up as "Temporary Sanity"... Just don't have too many episodes of it, though...

Well, parts of Ethiopia are cold an mountainous -- doubt if they've got much in the way of Ice Hockey though.

Then again, Jamaica had an Olympic bob-sled team, so there's always a possibility....

Their father was Kenyan, their mother Norwegian and they were born in Stockholm.

And there were two, brothers, but the older brother was killed last year in a motorcycle crash in Austria...

Am I the only one wondering how Pratt got successfully photographed for her ID? Or is this yet another instance of "Wapsiverse vampires are different"?

Considering that she is cheerfully walking around in the daytime ... i'd say likely.

This is giving me the idea that the "deal" that Brandi said she had made was not with demons like most of us assumed at the time but was with the immortal politicians and elder gods like the Titans to form the MIB and other helpful things.

Is a salted caramel latte Popsicle what you get when you leave your salted caramel latte sitting out in the middle of a Minneapolis winter for too long?

Just jam a popsicle stick through the hole in the lid and leave it outside somewheres safe for half an hour...

If if that's just exactly what you had in mind when you walked in the door of Mucho Mocha, that's what you get. (Does Tina even need a menu? Is there a law or something? But then, I suppose not having one around would raise questions.) I suppose that logically there must be other places to get coffee in Minneapolis, but we never see them.

Also...yes, Agent Pratt, that's Ms. Oduya. She's a senior director. You don't yet have a need to know just how senior.
You should be reading the Wapsi Square Wiki.

Her hyperintelligent manipulative streak has been hidden in plain sight for awhile now. But...
Mark N wrote:This is giving me the idea that the "deal" that Brandi said she had made was not with demons like most of us assumed at the time but was with the immortal politicians and elder gods like the Titans to form the MIB and other helpful things.
...but I think she was trying to be as honest as possible with Monica in that darkly relevant scene. However, Mark, you have a point:
That line of dialogue can be parsed between demons noticing her fractured despair, and making a deal with entities powerful enough to "fight something like" pitiless human evil.

PS I like incorporating the popsicle after all the art critics on Friday. Makes Brandi's MIB look like plain fun to work for--want to eat frozen treats on the job? go for it, if that's your thing! Junior wouldn't go by the name of Indrid Cold by any chance?
