Nudge pinup, the cutest goat girl in the Wapsiverse

Now as for why we have a Nudge pin-up The fragility of the human form is a continuous vexation to me. And don't get me started on warrantee returns to the designer...

Yeah. I think Douglas Adams had it right, in his description of the Designer's last message to its creations...Opus the Poet wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 9:53 pm Now as for why we have a Nudge pin-up The fragility of the human form is a continuous vexation to me. So, considering that it's Hiatus Time again... who is bringing the coffee for the meeting in the clubhouse, and is there a decent bakery nearby where I can pick up some spanakopita for the potluck lunch?
Re: Short Break 2019-05-17
I tried to order this once at a Greek restaurant and pronounced it "Spank-a-topia." Dyslexic, I am, know you.

My grandmother went that way. It was hard to watch.

Don't goats have cloven hooves, like sheep?Opus the Poet wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 9:53 pm Nudge pinup, the cutest goat girl in the Wapsiverse

Nudge has pony hooves, complete with horseshoes:

Why do we have to get such a hilarious pair of consecutive posts, at such an inappropriate time to laugh at them?
Re: Short Break 2019-05-17
Because irony is one of the primary construction materials of the universe?
Or, because Paul appreciates that you have to laugh so that you don't have to cry?
Re: Short Break 2019-05-17
No, Paul wasn't involved. Dave and Fairport were.

Nudge needs to see a farrier. She's starting to get ragged "snowshoe" hooves.

I would think Nudge can trim her own toenails.AnotherFairportfan wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 2:29 am Nudge needs to see a farrier. She's starting to get ragged "snowshoe" hooves.
Or maybe she and Phix trade off giving each other pedicures.

Any word on how long Paul's gonna have to take off?

This is one of those things that takes however long it takes. And nobody knows how long that is until it's all over but the paperwork and ceremonies.AnotherFairportfan wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 9:25 pmAny word on how long Paul's gonna have to take off?
I've seen similar situations that were expected to be just days, turn out to be months. And the other way around. And in the (few) specifics we have of this particular situation, Paul's quite possibly spending half his time wishing it would hurry up - and the other half feeling ashamed of himself for that wish.
(All perfectly natural and normal, Paul. The situation inherently sucks so bad that there's no way to feel good about it.)
And I know what Paul means about thinking his mother's already gone but hasn't passed away yet. I had one of those "dying relative stops to say goodbye" dreams, about my grandmother, when I was in high school. My father (Christian mystic) checked it out and reported that, after a major stroke, the body was still alive and functioning but the mind and soul were gone. The relatives in the county - mostly Pagans and Christian mystics - got together for a memorial service, and didn't bother with the funeral five or six months later.

My grandmother spent ten years dying inside her head until her body finally gave out at age 102.
I know what it's like.

Paul, all the hugs for you. Strength and love and healing, in this hard time.

We thought her anorexia and dislike of formerly palatable foods was a symptom of dementia. She went fast after the gastric cancer was diagnosed. Morphine is our friend at times like that.

Last Tweet I got from Paul was not good. Apparently his Mother has entered the end stage of her disease and is unable to chew or swallow. Please keep Paul and his family in your prayers.
