Someone (Skylar) is looking to have the opportunity to "cut loose".
I ride my bike to ride my bike, and sometimes it takes me where I need to go.

She's just looking for a good opportunity to hoist a pint in a toast to the next four years.Opus the Poet wrote:Someone (Skylar) is looking to have the opportunity to "cut loose".

Does she visualise the place as a hunting ground?

Im Himmel gibt’s kein Bier,
Drum trinken wir es hier.
Denn sind wir nicht mehr hier,
Dann trinken die andern unser Bier.
... damn near every song I know in German is about drinking or marching or broads... except "Stille Nacht"

Ah, German beer....
My late and very German mother-in-law had a plate wall hanging showing a shipwreck in the distance, and two sailors floating in the choppy waters. One was holding a bottle above the water with his thumb over the open bottle mouth. The caption read (in German) "To keep the water out!"

uh oh ... there is no such thing as "Der Bierhall" ... as a native german speaker i can tell you it sounds silly, because: "Der Hall" ( masculine ) means reverb ( as in the musical effect ). so "Der Bierhall" essentially means "Beer Reverb" in german.Sgt. Howard wrote:DER Bierhall
it should be "DIE Bierhalle" ... halle == hall, as in architectural term.

Got a feeling the fella didn't literally mean she can gut someone for making a pass at them, best not to be murdering innocent humies over such things.

Also doesn't mean she can't intimidate an obnoxious drunken donkey for getting handsy, either.Akeche wrote:Got a feeling the fella didn't literally mean she can gut someone for making a pass at them, best not to be murdering innocent humies over such things.

Since the views of both Atsali and Skylar working we've seen has their tails (with red bows) fully on display, and Skylar's comments about Japan being very para friendly/tolerant, i doubt that anyone - at least the majority of "anyones" who visits the joint will not be "innocent" in that manner.Akeche wrote:Got a feeling the fella didn't literally mean she can gut someone for making a pass at them, best not to be murdering innocent humies over such things.

Showing yet again the pitfalls of English.Akasha wrote:uh oh ... there is no such thing as "Der Bierhall" ... as a native german speaker i can tell you it sounds silly, because: "Der Hall" ( masculine ) means reverb ( as in the musical effect ). so "Der Bierhall" essentially means "Beer Reverb" in german.Sgt. There are too many similarities between the two languages that aren't actually equivalent, and German is not the easiest language for an English speaker to learn by a long shot. Spanish is actually easier.
I had an uncle who worked as liaison with the Bundeswehr. He said he knew he had finally arrived as a competent German speaker when he found himself _thinking_ in German.

Has Atsali changed her hair style?
Japan being Para friendly: Yes, OK, I can see it. It'd just be real life anime and manga. Maybe cosplay, too.
I wonder who or what the pub owner is that he thinks he can handle things a succubus and an incubus/siren hybrid might not be able to?

Re: Zero Tolerance 2017-10-30
That's the breakthrough, no matter what the language. Once that happens, your ability to learn that language grows by leaps and bounds, because you are no longer trying to translate things into the language you are trying to speak. It comes so much more naturally, even if you are, at times, still searching for a certain word or two...sheik wrote:I had an uncle who worked as liaison with the Bundeswehr. In my case, I think I was 14 or 15, when I started thinking in English. (I had been learning English since age 10 or so) I remember, I was sitting in the school bus, waiting for it to leave. I was looking outside, and saw something or other take place (I can't remember what it was.) I through to myself: "Hmm, such and such just happened." [time delay] "Hey, I just thought in English!"
I don't remember when I started thinking in Haitian Creole, once I started learning it, but I do know that when i speak it, I think it, too...
