I can imagine a light and fine chainmail flogger being employed in a safe and proper BDSM manner. Oh, yeah, it would sting like hell, but that's sort of the point.
But that? What you made is probably closer to a flail or something than a... A... A toy.
A lot of that depends on the individual threshold for pain. My second wife would claw my back at critical moments- I barely noticed at the time. I would show up at work with these wounds... (and there was no doubt what they were)... when I changed into scrubs. It's not that I was into that sort of thing as much as it didn't bother me that much. I've got scar tissue all over the place- I am typing with the remains of a second-degree burn on my right knuckles from an autoclave- I scrubbed my hands with a betadine brush before my three surgeries and caused it to bleed a might, but it was more uncomfortable than painful. There's also a divot of flesh missing from the left palm, about the mass of an airsoft projectile- the result of using my open palm to smack galvanized corrugated steel back into place- I didn't notice the screw hole until after I was bleeding. A small chunk was avulsed, so I bit it off. No big deal. It heals very quickly and rather well.
Sooo... yea, a dom might find me attractive for what I can put up with- but why would I put up with it? Sally (my second wife) was not masochistic- she was remarkably feral. THAT I can put up with. Dominance mind games? Really?? Not on your tintype...

Yanno, I kinda asked for that discussing chainmail gag gifts. I ought to make and send both of you dorks a lightweight aluminum one.
Yanno how some people have Angels/Devils for a conscience? I have a Dark Elf ShadowKnight and a Half Elf Ranger for mine. The really bad part is when they agree on something.

I once made a chainmail bikini for a female SCA friend of mine. That was interesting to work on.

Welding the rings closed must have been a PitA.
Finding a chainmail or scalemail top for me is difficult, not just because my bust size, but because there are four, maybe five metals I can wear, and they need specialised welding to secure the links)because that is the one place pinching or scratching metal articles equals me killing you. I can't weld niobium, platinum, or titanium closed, gold alloy is...well, I know how(but cadmium poisoning from inadequate ventilation is not on my tops), as I did make part way through that apprenticeship before the Master passed. Silver is not too terribly difficult, just tedious(OGNA), as I did make silversmith.
So yeah, finding chain or scale is difficult(read: Too smegging expensive).

I would but I can't afford to pay for your craftsmanship.
Al, I expect pics so I can live vicariously through you on this matter.

I'm deciding between anodized aluminum and galvanised steel.
Galvanized is cheaper(because I have a huge bucket already), but anodized won't darken, and is about half the weight or less.
Might even make Al here a tea cozy...

All this reminds me of a great old Thimble Theater strip.
Popeye's granny asks him to go downtown and get her a pair of knitting needles. So he goes downtown all happy, thinking Granny is gonna knit him a pair of socks or mittens or something.
Later, he looks in on Granny to see how she's doing.
She's knitting herself a bulletproof vest. From steel wool.
Saccharomyces cerevisiae is the linchpin of civilization.
I wonder if that would have any effectiveness at all...
Goodness knows it'd be the scratchy sweater to end all scratchy sweaters.

One hopes she didn't use Misch metal by mistake.

So my son like PuErh Dante with Gunpowder green and Hazelnut.
I did not like the blend at all. When the tin is empty, I'll use it for storage.
I got a Lapsang Souchong, Coconut blend that has cacao nibs. I want an endless bottle of it. It's gloriously smoky, chocolatey, and coconutty. It's like wrapping a mounds bar in palm leaves and smoking it on a grill.

Link? Please? Pretty please, with cacao nibs on top?

You are giving me great idea'rs for the Bar-B-Q...
S'mores made on a grill are sooooo yummy. I was told I acted like a cross between Gollum and a dragon the way I hoarded those. Use coconut marshmallows and the tea tastes a lot like that.

Precious, Precious S'Mores! GRRARRGH!
My pouch arrived last night. I tried some after lunch - one heaping teaspoon full, filled the cup with scalding water from the coffee machine, stirred, waited two minutes, decanted. Added just a touch of sweetener.
It's delicious (I'm not allowed to say "Yummy Tea" in this context, right? ). It's a nice smoky Lapsang Souchong, and the flavors are subtle - they add to the taste without being overpowering or obnoxious. It's sort of the flip-side version of Aztec chocolate (mostly chocolate, but flavored with various herbs and some hot red pepper).
Thanks for the pointer, DinkyInky! This will make a nice change from dark-roast office coffee.
