In a story blurb in ANALOG, John W Campbell once said (approximately):
History doesn't always repeat itself.  Sometimes it screams "Why aren't you listening to me?" and lets fly with a club
So we have this story:

Das Blunder? VW blames engineers, not execs, for diesel woes, then bails on US diesels.
