So we have this story:

Das Blunder? VW blames engineers, not execs, for diesel woes, then bails on US diesels.

and these comments:

Even if the 'execs' didn't know or didn't know everything, they should have known. If they were led to believe in a technical miracle story - 'magic beans' - then their judgement is questionable.

Their options are to either admit wrong doing, incompetence or stupidity.

Or try desperately to cover it up, and confirm all three.
