but please, do we have to repeat the 'all those animals are naked' meme???
I'd say yes, but really I have to think Ursamorphs and all animalistic paranormal beings in the Wapsiverse actually lean more into the human side of the spectrum despite their appearances. So I'd kinda think calling any of them animals would pretty much be a serious insult. Or speciel slur.

On the subject of being naked though, I really have to wonder about the legal specifics regarding Ursamorphs, I mean, they technically are naked at all times despite appearances. It's gotta fall in a grey area somewhere, lol.

sorry, I think you need to check the definition... It is very arrogant to think 'humans are best'... and i do think it would be insulting a paranormal being to say they are 'merely human'...

I'm not saying Humans are best. But well, doesn't this sound like an insult to you?

and you can also say "you are a political animal" "she was an animal in bed"
and note many of these are not proper English, your English teacher would give you bad marks for its usage...
you have to be careful with slang, it can mean different things in different countries...

please avoid 'popular definitions' that are WRONG..

The wavy border of the dialog balloon in panel 2 indicates
pitch variations?

"I'm WereING CLO-othes!"

This must be a special occasion.

You know who else wear clothes on special occasions....?

I mean, come on! How can Rarity earn a living selling
clothing in a society of nudists?!?

Normally, the ursamorph's clothing is a projection- the inference I pick up is that there is now FLESH underneath those clothes whereas normally there would be no such thing...

To put it clearly and succinctly, before, the clothing Nadette was wearing WAS Nadette, so Atsali couldn't slide her hands up under anything... She morphed herself into a shape that mimicked her wearing clothing. Now, she truly IS naked under real clothing so Atsali can slip her hands underneath. Naughty Nadette... simply Naughty.

That being said, Atsali is clearly missing a big social clue here. Try a clue by four Nadette... maybe a clue by eight. Birdy does have a rather thick skull...

Since Nadette just said she has a secret, I'd guess the style indicates that she is whispering.

I'd put it a bit differently... she's really bright, but she has a huge blind spot. There are all sorts of social messages she literally can't see even if they're right in front of her.

She's shown that she can get the message eventually, but (like many people with perception deficits) she has to deduce it based on the things she can perceive. She must tack her way back and forth across the Sea of Logic, rather than taking the quick route across the Strait of Winkandanod.

As to her reaction to Nadette's comment about clothes... she'll figure it out fast quickly enough. After all, this could very well be the first "real date" she's ever been on, with anybody. Lots to learn ;) and a lot of that learning is always indirect, clumsy, awkward, prone to social and personal misunderstanding, and sometimes quite embarrassing for pretty much everybody!

Hmmm... maybe the "Huh?" is in part a surprise reaction to how fast Nadette is moving... to the fact that she's being sexually aggressive and "forward". That might be an unusual situation for Sirens... as sexual predators, they are usually in the dominant role, entrancing their victims into responding.

the fact that Paul drew the whisper going all the way through a thick skull indicates to be that the gears have not fully engaged on that one... once she understands what is being said, there will be a loud KLUNK!

While I agree with the majority here that Atsali is missing the mark, not just reacting to the speed with which Nadette is moving things along, I actually wonder if her "Huh?" isn't so much because she is missing social cues, but because it hasn't occurred to her that copping a feel under the clothes might be a fun option. It could be that she's missing the implication due to a certain amount of naivete in addition to her inability to pick up on Nadette's use of suggestive tone. Being a natural sexual predator doesn't necessarily mean she instinctively knows how to truly enjoy making out with a girlfriend. :) It just means she can sing someone into lusting after her.

Additionally, I kind of wonder how far into their relationship this comic page is...because if it's enough of a jump into the future, Nadette might not actually be moving very fast. I mean, which base is under the shirt groping? 2nd? How long does it really take to get that far? And also, what determines the appropriate speed for a relationship to progress physically? Ideally it's just the emotional and mental preparedness of both parties, but I've often wondered why we take issue when witnessing people who "move fast" in their physical interactions. As long as their both fine with it, it's not really "fast" at all. Maybe for our little bear it's just right. :P

Yanno how some people have Angels/Devils for a conscience? I have a Dark Elf ShadowKnight and a Half Elf Ranger for mine. The really bad part is when they agree on something.

"Minority" and "age of consent" being two separate things, we find:
In Minnesota, the age of consent for sex is 16. Generally, this means that as long as both partners are older than 16, any age difference between them does not matter. The age of consent law in Minnesota only applies to heterosexual conduct, and the state currently has no valid statute which sets the age of consent for homosexual conduct.
SO, both being seventeen (as i seem to recall) they can cheerfully and legally DO It (assuming that the courts would apply the same age of consent to same-sex activity), but if someone filmed it (or they did), then that would be child pornography.

I kinda wish Pablo would do a short (1-2 years) time skip à la Batiuk so I wouldn't feel quite as guilty for some of the thoughts I have.

Easy remedy to those feelings of guilt. Just remember the fact that you are not in japan. Cause all that loli panty shot stuff they produce, if any one should feel guilty over having thoughts on a drawn character it should be them, lol

Well... technically, since it's three years after we first met Atsali, it's quite possible she's 18 and legal.
