Question: Weekly instead of Daily?
Would it be more productive if the comic discussion was spread over a week's time instead of once a day? It would cover more ground and may be less repetitive - with no need to "race to post" like there is now?
Obviously it's Pablo's forum, but it might generate more discussion and traffic.
Thoughts?

Speaking for myself, I've never experienced such a "need".jwhouk wrote:no need to "race to post" like there is now?
From observation, it seems others are having fun with a "race to post". Let them have it.

Exactly. I normally try to go to bed long before midnight, but sometimes I happen to still be up. It is somewhat fun, then, to try to be the first to post. Sometimes I make it, sometimes I don't. I find it entertaining, I guess... (Perhaps I'm just easily amused...)Sidhekin wrote:Speaking for myself, I've never experienced such a "need".jwhouk wrote:no need to "race to post" like there is now?

A conversation spread over a whole week could potentially cause either huge threads, which may discourage people from catching up on them, or turn people off and be harder to associate the thread to the daily comics.
As it stands, if someone is going through the comic archives and feels the urge to see what was said about any given comic, it is simple enough to search the forum for the thread title which is based on the date and the comic title. Having one weekly thread would make it harder to find comments related strictly to one comic, forcing one to read comments related to potentially five different comics in order to find the ones related to the comic one was interested in.
I think we're doing just fine, like we are.

All I have to say is that I'm a little disappointed at the the number of racy posts throughout the forum...

Maybe you should try an autographed photo of Danica Patrick and her Go Daddy stock car, instead?

Re: Question: Weekly instead of Daily?
One of the reasons why I'd be up for a weekly thread - clearly marked with a "Discussion Thread - Week of YYYY-MM-DD" - is that an observation from earlier in the week could be built upon and discussed, even as the story goes on through the week. It might also drive up some of the discussion, beyond the handful of people that seem to be highest level contributors on here.

Re: Question: Weekly instead of Daily?
I'm with Lake-Wrangler in his first post... if i go to today's comic and want to discuss something relevant to that days comic, then THAT'S where i post... and if it's two days later that someone wants to reply to that post, then they also would go to the thread that i started and hit "reply". that way it keeps all the posted replies in one location, and relatively "on-topic"( yes, I'm ignoring topic-drift...). if you have a thread for a week, then as L-W said, it will get very messy, very VERY quickly, and people would have to parse out which comment resolves to the right comic, and then anything they post gets side-tracked by the NEXT DAY'S comics posts... and it will be MUCH harder to maintain any kind of discussion concerning "just" one comic out of the weekly batch... or keeping any discussion on track at all...
In short, I'm all for leaving it just the way it is...

Knowing the Aztecs, they probably gave it inside actual hearts.
