I like da Bears... they seem to be the quintessential good cop/bad cop. Or each consisting of half of a whole personality. Berdine got the rough, loud, coarse in your face side, Nadette for the soft, calm, cool and collected logical side. Kinda like the two sides of Captain Kirk that got split in the Transporter accident...
Nadette is the right person to be telling this story methinks...

Well, hands up anyone that *remembers everything* they did from 6 months old... I am quite sure many cannot remember truly awful, 'almost killed self' things...eee wrote:Well, yes, no, and maybe on Castela hearing that. Anyone else get the feeling this story is not going to end with "and they lived happily ever after"?
Whoever coined the phrase "more fun than a barrel of monkeys" obviously never spent an afternoon cramming the little buggers into one.
Re: Strange Doorway 2014-08-04
But this isn't a half buried memory. Castela has indicated - once when talking to Tina on the Island, and just now - that she remembers killing the Fairy quite well. She simply assigned all the weight to it that slapping a mosquito would have to a human. Or killing a vampire used to have to Phix. But if you find out your assessment of the slappee is wrong, and the mosquito / vampire / Fairy may be admirable and something that has as much right to live as you do... Well, that can cause a revision in thought. And quite possibly, a lot of remorse.illiad wrote:Well, hands up anyone that *remembers everything* they did from 6 months old... I'd be happy with it ending up somewhere in the same territory as Emma Bull's marvelous "Silver or Gold".Aleister Crow wrote:Anyone else get the feeling this story is not going to end with "and they lived happily ever after"?

Forget unit mascot- now my wife wants to adopt her... I try to point out the dificulties (like the danger factor) and she reminds me that I consider C-4 a fun toy to play with

K. D.,
What comes to mind is Venn Diagrams, (it just so happens to have been a recent Google Doodle; http://www.google.com/search?safe=off&s ... 3568&hl=en)
Overlap, yes, but separate areas as well. Helps to address the Multi-Pantheon, 'Many Heavens' situation.

I'm hoping it's sort of a "Hear me now, and listen to me later." kind of thing here.eee wrote:Well, yes, no, and maybe on Castela hearing that. The Maguffin is an essential element in any story to ensure the characters stay in line and play their parts. In this way it can be considered the heart and soul of any tale.

I have to wonder now if Castela has been motivated by some kind of race memory. It seems her kind was savagely assaulted by the Fae.
Judging from Calista's present state I'd say the Fae got what they deserved on all counts.

Nadette is also a seer. She may not have known about the Fae and the Guf up until just now, and it is her seer side talking.DilyV wrote:I like da Bears... they seem to be the quintessential good cop/bad cop. An essential characteristic of a true maguffin is that it doesn't really matter what it is. For example, you could take The Maltese Falcon, swap out one small statue for another, and produce The Cretan Taurus. Nothing else would have to change, and the story would be the same.Timotheus wrote:The Maguffin is an essential element in any story to ensure the characters stay in line and play their parts. Read back, Castela doesn't have a race, she was made! First, last, and probably only one of her kind.sheik wrote:I have to wonder now if Castela has been motivated by some kind of race memory. It seems her kind was savagely assaulted by the Fae.

Re: Strange Doorway 2014-08-04
What if the Chamber of Guf didn't contain souls, but (personal) demons?
Maybe having demons like Doubt is what having a soul means?
But even if it doesn’t, Calista, we are now told, has a soul. This is something Monica needs to know.

Hypothetically, she could be "made from ____________________________" and thus have racial memories - perhaps from several species.My2Cents wrote:Read back, Castela doesn't have a race, she was made! The big question, though, is how did a uryuom egg get from the EGS universe to the Wapsi universe? Also, why did someone think it would be a good idea to put a mixture of plant and animal material in it?
Re: Strange Doorway 2014-08-04
I have always seen the Bibliotheki as a doorway between dimensions. Connected to the library of lord dream and Unseen University. Oh, and we only need to find the Tedd of the Wapsiverse to get an answer (and hope it is not Lord Tedd)Warrl wrote:The big question, though, is how did a uryuom egg get from the EGS universe to the Wapsi universe? I'm your only friend
I'm not your only friend
But I'm a little glowing friend
But really I'm not actually your friend
But I am

There's a picture opposite me
Of my primitive ancestry
Which stood on rocky shores
And kept the beaches shipwreck-free
Though I respect that a lot
I'd be fired if that were my job
After killing Jason off
And countless screaming Argonauts
Bluebird of friendliness
Like guardian angels it's
Always near
