It plays a video simulating logging into a BBS-based Google - then actually works.

With modem sounds and appropriate on-screen messaging.

(I worked at Hayes as a production and warranty repair tech from 1986 - 1990. All of this is amazingly evocative for me.)
Not even duct tape can fix stupid. But it can muffle the noise.

Ah yes! Hayes Micro Modem 200 baud dial up -- plus another card for my Apple ][...

And later, I actually went out and spend something like $400 for a 2400 baud US Robotics modem -- 12 times faster! Wow!
