It's a shame Kathy will never Sali out the door in that outfit. While it looks good it is waaaay to old for her. Give it another 5 years Sali then you can do as she wants. Then she'll be sitting in the catbird seat.

Since Atsali and Castela are doing DC villains, I think Katherine should go as Circe, or Duela Dent, or even Mr. J's main Squeeze, HarleyQuin(to go with the Batman theme). If I could find some recording software freeware that works well with my Penguin setup, I'd show you how cute my son and I are at doing Robin and HarleyQuin Impressions.
I apologise in advance for the nosebleeds that will occur once you fellas do Google Circe and imagine Katherine in that. I do NOT, however, apologise if you imagine her as HarleyQuin.

If She goes as a DC Hero, Batgirl works, as does Wonder Woman(I'd love to see her do one of Lynda Carter's alternate outfits, as they were tastefully hot, or as my son often says regarding lovely ladies, "Hellooooo Nurse!"

Had this up and forgot to add this into the post. Mama Katherine ought to be glad Atsali didn't attempt this version of the catsuit. Fanarts ahoy!
Yanno how some people have Angels/Devils for a conscience? I have a Dark Elf ShadowKnight and a Half Elf Ranger for mine. The really bad part is when they agree on something.

Katherine as poison Ivy might work. Or scrounge up a Aquaman or little mermaid costume so she can take the Fish with her

"Might"? It'd be natural for her. Only problem would be the red hair.

I'm gonna say Kath outta go as Laura Kroft. You know as an inside joke while doing something mundane as walking around doing the Halloween thing. This is a cute and funny picture, pure win.

Yeah...I agree with DinkyInky and Bud_Fanboi...Kat should be Harley Quinn or Poison Ivy. :) The red hair can be handled with a dye job or a wig...and if she doesn't want to mess with that, then Harley is an excellent choice. :)

Atsali isn't in real trouble, Mama-Kat hasn't used her full name. It'd give us a chance to find out if the girls have chosen middle names, or have last names to hyphenate. "Atsali Siren Gilchrist" sounds perfectly fine to me.

Am I the only one uncomfortable with a pinup of an underage girl?

:|

Or have I been misinterpreting her age this whole time? I suppose we could ignore the supernatural element for now which could add many zeros to her age, but for all intents and purposes she's drawn and written as ...15-17 years old? I'm not on the forums as much so maybe I've missed out on some discussion regarding this. But going off the comics that is definitely the impression I got...

@ chrisherself:

Yes, several have mentioned that she is dressed way to old in this pic; but I think that's part of the shtick: and Katherine suddenly has a precocious teenage heartbreaker to oversee, the classic 'every parent's nightmare' situation, pushing the limits to see what her new mom will allow. However, most of the 'wolf whistles' from the forum have been in recognition of the situation; I don't think there are lurking pedophiles in OUR forum.

Now if she could go as one of Professor Xavier's students, in an age-appropriate costume, that might fly - she might even get away with the wings (Halloween only!).

No, no lurking pedophiles, sorry to have implied that.

I thought about the 'parent's worst nightmare' thing when I saw the pinup; when I was a teenage girl I certainly had my battles with my mom over what was appropriate to wear. So that was an appropriate touch to have Katherine voicing her objections. But it doesn't make me any less uncomfortable with the imagery unfortunately. :( I guess, it's one thing to address the situation, but another entirely to do it by actually sticking the character in an outfit like that and having it be the focus of the image. But that is just me. I could be oversensitive to it!! And the response to the comic has been pretty polite. :)

I thought about Batman villains, too; Katherine should go with the existing theme. Harley Quinn would be a good choice, particularly if Katherine can do the appropriate high-pitched New Yawk voice. Talia al Ghul may be too obscure, and Poison Ivy's outfits are unsuitable for October in Minneapolis.

Hmmm. Perhaps the frontage is just a little supportive magic from Victoria's secret...
Most 15 year old girls are 15 going on 25... in their own minds. In my travels (I was an MP in the Army) I have seen 15 and 16 year old girls that you could easily mistake for 19 or 20 and 3 and 14 year olds you could mistake easily for 17 or 18. They dress and make themselves up to accentuate what they have... push up bras, skin tight jeans and other clothing... scary, but true. Kids are in such a hurry to grow up that they don't spend any time being just kids. How many male soldiers have I seen in trouble for doing things with underage girls that were putting themselves out as 19 and 20 year old young women? Add in a fake ID and who knows the difference? I'm not justifying it, just saying that young teens are in such a hurry to act all grown up... racing ahead where their emotional stability isn't able to follow just yet. The sad part is, I've seen that it is the most puritanical parents who have the most promiscuous daughters most of the time. I've noticed that parents who set specific limits or rather checkpoints for their daughters tend to fare better. By this, I mean things like no make up till you're 16, no piercings other than your ear lobe until you are eighteen. I have a friend who had his sixteen year old daughter come visit the base once. He was divorced and his ex had the kids. He often told me that he worried about her because her mother never seemed to apply any limits on her whatsoever. Every single male soldier was talking about her and how hot she was and how they wanted to ask him if they could ask her out. Imagine their chagrin when he told them she was only sixteen. When I finally saw her, I began to understand where they were coming from. She was sixteen, but her figure and looks were that of a 19 year old as well as the way she carried herself. The funny part was, she wasn't dressed all slutty at all. She wore jeans and a fitted jacket over a button down blouse that fit her nicely, and actually looked professional. To be honest it was the more grown up outfit that allowed her to pull off the more adult look. I imagine my friend had his hands full keeping the wolves at bay. I talked to her for a little and kind of watched her around all the guys and she actually behaved herself... not flirting with any of the guys at all like most 16 year olds would in such a target rich environment. She was as any parent would want to see their 16 year old daughter. He has a right to be proud of her.

It's been said here before, that Atsali is 15 and is at that age where she is pushing her limits and trying to grow up much too fast. I imagine that as an orphan, she really didn't get all that much parental guidance and so is used to getting her own way in certain aspects. Look at the way she dresses up to this point. Today's outfit doesn't come as much of a surprise to me given her actions and dress in the past.
You know that light at the end of the tunnel?

Yeah... it's a bullet. Sorry.

Of course, we're talking 15 in siren years, which is probably about 75-150 years in real years...

It's a position based on fear. Some parents remember what their youth was like so they bring the hammer down on their children to protect them, fueling the desire to rebel in the process. Making things worse is the usually accompanying fear that providing young people with the guidance they need to navigate the road to adulthood is tantamount to ecouragement to engage in adult behaviors.

Paul has put forth too much effort building up these characters. I can't see him tearing Katherine down by showing her to be a bad parent or Atsali a serious trouble maker.

I see this as Atsali being a typical teenager trying (maybe as a joke to get a rise out of her mom) an inappropriate costume and Kat calling her on it. That is standard good parenting in my view (but as I have been told "what do I know?).

She can double her mass at a whim, and reshape or even sprout or vanish entire limbs. Who knows what she can do if she puts her mind to it? (And if Mama allowed it)

Of course, the extremely limited experience I have with comic-book character costumes for either sex is that they tend to include a good bit of strategically-located padding to emphasise those traits that comic-book characters always seem to be drawn with but that real-life people never seem to really have.

In either case, though, I don't think that we ought to be pondering this specific question too deeply or else Katherine might borrow that whip and come after us.

He may have ret-conned the sequence to put the Friday Cliffhanger in proper position. Not a problem, but if you haven't saved the fillers somewhere, you've missed out. Unless you ask nicely, and I know someone....
