The Wapsi Square Picture Show

Post by Jabberwonky »

Okay, so I wasn't here for http://wapsisquare.com/comic/devilspantieswap/...Buuuuut, I had already done this as a result of "The Time Warp" coming up on random play whilst I was coloring one of Paul's pretty pictures....

The Time Loop

I was walking along the sidewalks of a sketchy neighborhood when something tweaked me to check the boards at a theatre I’d almost passed. The playbill let me know they were hosting performances of selected numbers from musicals to be judged by a panel. According to the times listed on the board, there was a performance starting in moments.
Normally, I would have moved on, I enjoy a good play from time to time, but would not be considered a patron of the theatrical arts by the loosest of standards. And, respecting the neighborhood, a moving target is harder to hit.
But the title of the play intrigued me, and upon reading it, I had to see what was being offered to the judges.
I took a seat near the center of the mostly empty theatre under the belief, from no factual knowledge, that the sound was tuned to the center of the auditorium.
Making a quick survey of the audience, filling maybe thirty percent of the seats, I judged the majority of them to be theater majors still in school. It was the smug looks combined with carefully crafted casual dress that brought me to this conclusion.
The soft murmur of the audience quieted suddenly as a huge figure emerged from the curtain, stage left, and gracefully sauntered to a large podium, stage right.
There was the upper body of a human female, short red hair and half-glasses on her face. But large, her arms, on which she supported the upper half, were close to six feet long.
The back half was that of a lion, matching the size of her torso. There was a pair of wings folded along the body.
The movement and facial gestures of the creature spoke of costuming beyond anything I was familiar with. The silhouetted figure of a man seated three rows in front of me got up and left the theater hurriedly.

(hadn't finished the set up, but it's the cast of Wapsi Square doing a stage presentation of 'The Time Warp' from 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show')
The cast as I see it….

Frankenfurter Jin
Riff-Raff Brandi
Magenta Tina
Columbia Bud
Janet Monica
Brad Kevin
Rocky Shelly
Eddie Alan?
The Criminologist Phix

(I'm thinking of getting what will be a pricey commission of that...)
The Time Loop
With apologies to Richard O’Brian

(Brandi as Riff-Raff, Tina as Magenta)

Riff-Raff: It’s astounding, time is repeating, madness takes its toll
Riff-Raff: But listen closely,
Magenta: Not for very much longer,
Riff-Raff: She’s going to lose control
Riff-Raff: I remember doing the time loop
Riff-Raff: From scribing those moments when
Riff-Raff: The Déjà-Vu would hit me
Riff-Raff: And my mind would go all Zen

(Assorted immortal politicians as the Transylvanians)
Chorus
Let’s do the time loop again
Let’s do the time loop again
It’s just a jump to the past
Fifty-six ti-i-i-i-imes
Each time one has passed
You follow different si-i-i-i-igns
But it’s the do-oh-overs
That’s driving her insa-a-a-a-ane
Let’s do the time loop again
Let’s do the time loop again

(Tina as Magenta, Brandi as Riff-Raff)

Magenta: The bus showed no brake lights
Magenta: All my memories had to take flight
Magenta: And I remember nothing
Magenta: No, not at all
Magenta: Got up from the cold slab
Magenta: Dove into a passing cab
Magenta: And demon ass I did haul
Riff-Raff: With a bit of a gear slip
Magenta: It’s a backwards time flip
Riff-Raff: And everything repeats again
Magenta: Stopped cutting our own throats
Riff-Raff: By reading my own cliff notes
All: Let’s do the time loop again
All: Let’s do the time loop again

(Bud as Columbia)

Columbia: I was down by the river just filling my jugs
Columbia: When I was snatched by a priest and a couple of thugs
Columbia: They tormented us, blackened our eyes
Columbia: He had a ritual that spelled our demise
Columbia: Changed into something they couldn’t restrain
Columbia: Life meant nothing, never would again

(Assorted immortal politicians as the Transylvanians)
Let’s do the time loop again
Let’s do the time loop again
It’s just a jump to the past
Fifty-six ti-i-i-i-imes
Each time one has passed
You follow different si-i-i-i-igns
But it’s the do-o-overs
That’s driving her insa-a-a-a-ane
Let’s do the time loop again
Let’s do the time loop again

(Assorted immortal politicians as the Transylvanians)
Let’s do the time loop again
Let’s do the time loop again
It’s just a jump to the past
Fifty-six ti-i-i-i-imes
Each time one has passed
You follow different si-i-i-i-igns
But it’s the do-o-overs
That’s driving her insa-a-a-a-ane
Let’s do the time loop again
Let’s do the time loop again
