I'm in the hospital 😝
I'm not sure how but I tore two of the 3 glutes on my right side, the gluteus medius and the gluteus minimus and fell heavily on my right shoulder and pinched a bunch of nerves on my right side about 4 weeks ago. I also tore my rotator cuff, and have basically no feeling in my right hand. I'm in rehab now until 8/7. I'm getting Internet via my phone and it sucks

When I tore up my rotator cuff, following the physical terrorist therapist's ( ) instructions exactly apparently resulted in 90% recovery, when they'd been predicting 50% . . . doing PT right after taking the pain meds seemed to help, too.

Re: I'm in the hospital 😝
Update: I was released from rehab about the time of the last post to this thread, 8/7. But on 8/13 I dropped my reacher/grabber and as I bent down to pick it up I had a back spasm that stood me straight up and launched me across the bathroom and into the shower, where I spent the next 10 hours lying on the loofa shower mat, basically a hunk of brown astro turf. Eventually I was able to angle my body and grab my walker with a foot and tip it over to drop my phone into my lap and I called 911. They took me to a different hospital this time because of how bad that loofa mat chewed up my back. To give you an idea of how bad that was the first thing they did after assessing my condition was give me IV morphine for my pain. They just asked if it hurt, not how bad it hurt.
Then I got transferred to another hospital with better imaging facilities which they used to get a better diagnosis. one of the things they did was a high-resolution MRI of my entire body, that took almost 2 hours. Among the things they found was 4 previous strokes I didn't even notice I'd had, plus stenosis in EVERY SINGLE VERTEBRAE IN MY SPINE ranging from severe in C1-C2 negligible in S1 at the top of my pelvis. But it was severe to moderate all the way through the thorax (chest). That mostly explains the numbness on my right side and the lack of mobility in my arm and hand.
Next up was back to rehab where we ramped up the intensity a notch and went all-out on the exercises, especially the right leg. I had been leaning to the right because of the weak hip. I went really hard on the stepper and by the time they released me I was up to 2000 steps in 20 minutes, almost breaking a sweat. And a couple weeks after I got home I got thrown a curve ball: my wife was sent home from her rehab still unable to stand to transfer from her bed, and since I left the first time there was a new bedside table put in, right where I needed to stand to change Mrs. the Poet's diaper. This was last Saturday, and I was only able to change her once. So, she's getting a little uncomfortable now, and APS is wanting to take her out of the house and I don't blame them. Their main concern is if there is a fire she can't get out of bed to get out of the house and I can't drag her out of the house. Now they are trying to find a facility to put her in, and maybe one for me because I can't clean anything around the house, and the toilets are disgusting.

Oh, man... I'm terribly sorry to hear about all of this.

Crap. Sounds like it's time for a nursing home or a live-in nurse, at least for her and possibly for both of you.
She can't take care of herself, you can't provide the assistance she needs, it's arguable whether you can take care of yourself (and she definitely can't provide the assistance you need).

Haven't looked in for a while. Sure hope the local agencies are helping you out.
