"Cogito, ergo sum."

Does this mean that a person who gets themselves stupid-drunk is at risk of no longer existing?

berkelianism . . . the idea that things only exist because they are observed.

There was a professor named Dodd
Who said “God must think it exceedingly odd,
to find that this tree
Continues to be
When there’s no-one about in the quad.”

Which drew the reply:
“Dear sir, your astonishment’s odd;
I am always about in the quad.
Thus the tree
will continue to be,
Since observed by, yours faithfully, God.”

Since we have the geological record that extends back to before single-celled life existed, that is just solipsism taken to extremes not supported by the evidence. I can imagine a world that existed before I did, so by solipsism it did, but a world that only exists because it is observed, well how did you exist before you were observed?

I'm gonna go with "turtles all the way down" for $400, Alex.

Only if they 1) pick a fight with the biggest guy in the bar or 2) attempt to drive.
