I'm wondering if someone set this up to see if Mindy's interested in Hiroshi . . .
Or possibly that the mean girls were trying to set Mindy up for failure . . .

You aren't alone - quite a few readers on the main site seem to suspect that it's a setup of some sort.
I wonder... could this be a setup arranged by Hiroshi's mother? From what he's said, she's concerned about his possible future (saying that all he has going for him are his looks and his kindness). Might she have somehow manipulated a setup to try to throw Mindy in his direction, thinking that Mindy (being somewhat of a a demigoddess) could be a suitable high-status mate for her kind-but-somewhat-dim son?
IIRC Hiroshi is half-Fae, and I think it's his mother who is the Fae... and the Fae have a reputation for being manipulative...
... and I suppose she could just have arranged to hire Mindy as a tutor for Hiroshi, but maybe that's too direct an approach ...
(gotta go heat some oil and make popcorn)

Get a big pot, this looks like a two-bagger with a large audience.

Hiroshi himself, perhaps?

Quite possibly . . . I've seen it done.
Sometimes successfully, sometimes not.

There's also the high possibility Hiroshi's as dense as a concrete fencepost...

If it wasn’t that our Fae Princess Calista already left the building, I’d be very suspicious of someone playing matchmaker.
Something tells me, though, that what Mindy saw was, in fact, the truth.
And they need to hope Castela never finds out who they are and what they did.

Concrete isn't actually all that dense.Opus the Poet wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 10:08 amThere's also the high possibility Hiroshi's as dense as a concrete fencepost...
Its also possible that Hiroshi is playing dense . . . I've known people (many female) who did that.
