"If you want to watch Tiffany and Coco get their freak on, please update your Codec so you can enjoy them in 4K SupraColorVision(tm)!"

And the link goes to some Argentinian website with XML cross-scripts to Belize and Kazakhstan. Yeah, I'll get right on that one....

The one thing I found odd, was that they combined shooting in the dark suppositions (like assuming the recipient visits porn sites, and "pleasures" himself while doing so, which may indeed be the case with many, so many may find the email intimidating and worrisome) with supposedly specific stuff, like this is your email - well duh, you just sent me an email, so of course you know my email address, and this is your password (um, no. Never used that word, never used actual words for passwords), which then kinda ruins their "credibility"... I mean, if they got that password thing wrong, maybe, just maybe, they got the rest wrong too, and they never did infiltrate my pc...

In wanting to impress, they went too far and shot themselves in the foot.

They don't have to impress or convince everyone that they spam.

If they manage to convince (or panic) even 1 in 1000 of the people whose email addresses they have harvested (and pretend to have hacked) they can probably make enough Bitcoin to pay for the address lists and software tools they purchased, and make a profit.

It's like the now-common scamming technique around here... robo-calls which claim to be the IRS about to file suit against you, or the Chinese embassy calling to say that you are (or a relative is) about to be deported. They're shotgun scams, blasted out at every possible target, hoping to hit just one vulnerable victim often enough to be profitable.

As is so often the case, it's the naive who end up being taken.

It's why the things are so often laden with grammar and spelling errors, and what you would think are obvious absurdities: to screen out people smart enough to question whether the IRS would really send you a letter written in Engrish...

I have to admit, I had never thought about that angle... That actually makes sense, now that I think about it.

My dad thought that Chinese restaurant menus are written like that on purpose, as branding schtick.

I have more faith in the incompetence of keyboarders and print jobbers, but it does make some sense.

Oh Nozz! I'm being rejected by NetFlix!

The links click back an vk.cc domain...

Funny thing, besides not having a Netflix account myself (family does, but I digress), I've taken note of the almost complete lack of SPAM recently either showing up in the SPAM folder itself or like this one, the In box.

Never mind that the return address and the one mentioned in the email are not the same... (Yes, I am absolutely convinced that Warren Buffet uses a gmail account. That clinches it, for me.

Quick, where's that Reply button?

Wait a minute! I just noticed, in the header info, that it was sent to NO ONE IN PARTICULAR! How can that be? Wasn't he holding the money just for me?

I don't know what to think, anymore... Especially since there are two periods in the amount of money he wishes to give me...

Somewhere I read the intentional poor grammar and spelling filter out the people with at least half a functioning brain cell, leaving the rest of the dunderheads to actually consider this might be real. Those sad dopes are their prey.

I have no difficulty believing that whatsoever. Meanwhile, it makes for amusement fodder for the rest of us.

I got one on the phone telling me I was about to arrested for tax fraud- I punched the requested number and as soon as an "OFFICER" connected with me, I screamed into the phone "COME AND GET ME, MOTHERF&CKER!!!"... I felt so relaxed after that...

I just got a similar call... Illegal banking activities, warrant for my arrest, etc. All about transactions from "Bank of Canada"... Press 1 to get in touch, yada yada yada...

Except that there IS NO "Bank of Canada"... or at least, not for personal banking... The Bank of Canada sets the prime rate, and does other high economic stuff, but is not an entity with which people can deal... so there's no way I would have any illegal banking activities with regards to them.

I was tempted to follow your lead, press 1, and yell at them (though I probably would not use quite the same language...), but I just hung up, instead.

I recently got another call like that, but this time, I wanted to emulate you (well, maybe not quite using those very words, but still something to that effect...) But when I told them my name, they hesitated a few moments, and said they would call me back... never heard from them again...

Can't help but wonder if I didn't still play into their hand, by at the very least confirming that my number is indeed my number...

I'm on someone's Amazon Scam list, because I'm up past 10 "Your Amazon Account has been frozen due to....." wasp invasion, narwhal vomit, irregular purchases, restricted zoning rights for marsupials, 14th Amendment violations, etc etc etc.

I just keep forwarding them to the Report Spam address at Amazon. I'm sure they're tickled pink.

I keep getting scammy "Your email account needs to be validated/upgraded/malware-scanned or it will be closed/locked/messages-lost/eaten-by-rabid-mink so Click Here" messages from my domain's email team.

I know they're scammy, because I own my own domain and run my own email servers... I am my email team.

I'm certain that if I were going to bother to send myself a message about this sort of thing, I would make fewer grammatical and punctuation errors.

About 10 years ago, I got an elaborate offer for fake certificates to "recognize my professional achievements" from some scammer in England.

Now, could be they sent this select offer because their extensive research found that I'm not great at page design.

But I'm betting they had no fucking idea they sent it to a typesetter.

That was the worst targeted marketing since the time Gillette sent me a free 8-track razor.
