Well, that approach did work during the years of the Black Plague. Resistance is feudal, y'know.

Wait, I thought the pun jar could be ignored here. I mean, isn't that what this thread is for?

Oooh... flashback!

My sense of humor goes back a long way (to childhood exposure to Rocky & Bullwinkle, at least). It became particularly bad when I was in high school. One of my chem-lab partners and I (I forget his name, alas) started to really get into pun wars in class, to the outrage of some of our long-suffering fellow students. It got so bad that some of them stopped asking us to shut up... they tried to make us shut up, by pelting us with lab glassware full of whatever sort of noxious brews were being investigated that day.

The teacher eventually broke it up, forcing the two of us to make peace in the classroom. "A Pax on thee, stinking-vial punsters!" were his exact words, i believe.

(Dave offers the Pun Jar a safety package containing a Tyvek bunny suit, gloves, and an N95 mask).

xkcd is going for the Pastis award today ("nerd humor" subdivision). I have to say this is one of the best shaggy-mutant-caninoid-beast science-pun setups I've seen in a long while.

The CDC this week announced an investigation into a series of illnesses on the East Coast due to Listeria bacteria. All of those who became ill had eaten prepackaged Italian-style deli meats and it's suspected that the meat was contaminated during processing.

This isn't a new problem, unfortunately. A few years ago a German butcher shop in my area was shut down after a similar episode, when several customers became sick.

The shop's location, in a pedestrian alley half a block off of the main street, is believed to have contributed to the problem. It was found that customers who walked there to buy sausages became so sick they had to be hospitalized. Every one of them took a turn for the wurst.

Did we mention that you missed the joke? If not, that'd just be the wurst.

While looking at and following links for parody videos related to the pandemic and about politics, I ran into these two dad jokes videos:
