Yeah, I knew beforehand that I could use 7.62 in a .308 but not the other way around. I'd read that it's a bad idea using .308 in the 7.62 rifles, something to do with a less sensitive primer in the 7.62 and the thing going off when you don't intend it.

I've only ever had a single BIOS/Computer System that I couldn't boot GRUB from in a competent manner, and that was because of a conscious decision by the vendor to hack the otherwise 'standard' BIOS firmware.
Not BIOS.
I worked for two years at AMI, BTW.}
I do know the difference, but It's all BIOS to me.
btw, the case I had w/ the troublesome laptop was (I think) a Toshiba and it had a weird version of UEFI. Man, it was a drag re-installing Win 8.1 (OEM), finally the client decided to go w/ Win10. (whew)

For some reason, my mom has been hostile towards everyone else over the shitty things my sister has been doing lately. This weekend, I'd only heard her say maybe a couple words in a civil tone this entire weekend.
Is it Monday afternoon yet? I'm so ready to get back to work.

Watching Phantasm for the first time. I'd already seen the second, third, and fourth films, and thought they were a trip. It's a rather interesting franchise.

Well, just got back from the Library; picked up
- 12 Angry Men
- Spartacus
- (and two others I can't recall right now, Damm'it!)
Oh, oh- 'the Shining' and... and... I cant remember the last one. They're stuffed in the Laundry Duffel and it was a last min thing right before the Library closed, and the dog ate my homework, and my arm hurts, and I don't wanna go to school today Mom...

Re: More Stuff
Apparently somebody decided to try flying their drone in the recent wind storm. Given that I found its wreckage in the trees on top of one of the mountains here, I'd say that that wasn't the smartest of decisions.
Re: More Stuff
The Drone made a break for freedom, but the odds weren't in it's favour.
btw- well done Typeminer.
ps- the fourth film was/is 'Bringing up Baby', cause my selection was based on "Lets do Classics this time..."

Re: More Stuff
There wasn't any info on the drone that told where it might have been from, so I just hauled it down to the edge of the nearest road so if anybody was looking for it they might find it. Maybe it has a GPS tracker on it or something.
I've found some quite decent movies that way, and more than a few awful ones.
Often when I'm at the library I'll just randomly look through the movies there, so something that I've vaguely heard of before, and then check it out. Then later that evening I'll be trying to remember what the movies were that I'd picked up that morning, and not have a clue.TazManiac wrote: ps- the fourth film was/is 'Bringing up Baby', cause my selection was based on "Lets do Classics this time..."

All good selections. Be sure to try the Duck Soup if you get a chance.TazManiac wrote:The Drone made a break for freedom, but the odds weren't in it's favour.

Re: More Stuff
I much enjoyed the Marx Bros (& W.C. Fields, etc) when I was exposed to them as a child. Art House, Independent Film Houses in and around Palo Alt, CA fed my artistic muse at an early age, indeed.
I find though, as I'm past the half century mark, that I need to 'get in a certain space' in order to do a double-header of 'Duck Soup' & say 'Horse Feathers'.
btw: if anybody is in and around San Francisco's Bay Area any time soon, you might want to take your folks to see a double feature of Classic Films at the Stanford Theater. (I had to redact my normal preference in describing it as the 'Stanford Fox', that was last millennium...)
Here's a link to the current program, centered on Alfred Hitchcock: http://stanfordtheatre.org/calendars/Hi ... thers.html
$7 gets you two films in a renovated Art Deco Palace to the celluloid muse. Medium sodas and popcorn are $1.50, as is much of the candy at the snack bar.
(Takes a little fun out of smuggling in your own treats like at other modern movie houses...)
Anywhoes, me likey old movies, and I don't care who knows it.

(Ack! Wasn't paying attention and posted in the wrong thread...)
So, I ended up taking home somewhere in the ballpark of $750 for last week, thanks to only one night of overtime. I also crunched some numbers for that $14.53 per hour I should start making in the summer, and before all the taxes and such come out, I'd get somewhere in the ballpark of $910 for one week if I work a night of overtime. That means I'll be able to definitely pay off my car within a year, if I so choose, and I'm thinking that, once I do, and get enough health insurance to not get penalized on my tax return, I could very well try to buy a house of my own, preferably something small and not in the middle of town.
If I actually work up the nerve to get a profile on a dating site, I might find someone who'd probably help me out with that, amongst other things...

Re: More Stuff
Yeah, that'd be easier.
On an unrelated note, I may be nearing the end of the problematic cough I'd had for over a week. While I'd been coughing up a bit of phlegm here and there, on my drive to work today I'd been coughing up a LOT of it, more in that half hour than I had in a day.
So I'm gonna see if we have mucus relief medicine when I get home, and maybe I can speed up this process.

Maybe, but I don't have to work tomorrow night. I could take something like that when I get home in the morning and sleep through most of the effects.

Ditto on Mucinex. Just be careful with it. Zombies do not operate machinery, heavy or otherwise, at all well. Clock staring and counting commercials on TV becomes a valid past time. Remember to drink and eat, in that order.

The straight Mucinex is guaifenesin, an expectorant... makes it easier to cough out the mucus. It's my go-to when I have a chest cold... doesn't make me either sleepy or jumpy, and it works. The generic drugstore version is a good deal less expensive than the brand name.GlytchMeister wrote:Mucinex is your friend.

The DM version also has dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant, which helps you stop coughing... which may not be what you want if you've got a lung full of goo to get rid of. Good for letting you get a good night's sleep, but as GM points out it's not a good thing to take if you have to operate machinery of any sort. Dextromethorphan is not something to OD on, either deliberate or accidentally... it seems to have some pretty bad long term effects.
