Here's another quote that made me laugh:

It's been a long time since I've read the Black Company books, might have to reread one of these days. And Garret, PI is a lot of fun1

If you haven't read The Dragon Never Sleeps, do it!

{Despite the title, it's not a fantasy - more of a huge space opera [at least somewhat] akin to Dune in scope and approach.}

For years (when i attended two or three conventions up his way every year), i used to half-seriously bug Glen about when the sequel to "Dragon" would be out.

Somehow, I'm not surprised by this quote:
“I am enclosing two tickets to the first night of my new play; bring a friend... if you have one.” - George Bernard Shaw to Winston Churchill

"Cannot possibly attend first night, will attend second... if
there is one." - Winston Churchill, in response.

As usually quoted, it's an exchange of telegrams (quite common at the time):

"Reserved two seats opening night STOP Bring a friend if you have one - GBSHAW"

"Unable attend opening night STOP Will attend second night if you have one - CHURCHILL"

===================

Another bit of {alleged} Churchillian correspondence - note to the author of a scathing review of his latest book (possibly the history of the Boer War):

"SIR - I am seated in the smallest room in my home. Your review is before me.

Soon it will be behind me."

However pretty it is, I am left puzzled: why do trees need security companies, like ADT, watching over them? :?

How do the trees pay for the monthly fees?

How do they even manage to set up the contract, without any misunderstanding along the way?

If you look closely, you can see one of the Keebler elf's relatives has taken up residence, hence the security.

They are INCREDIBLY redundant.

{"QRI", not barcode...}

I just noticed that PP X9 has the capability, so...

I printed it out at several sizes, and its fully readable even at just on imch square.
