Natalie at play. It's scary to see how much both girls have grown/matured in the three years i've been shooting and saving photos on a regular basis...
She likes to collect and throw rocks in the driveway
The word "purposeful" comes to mind:
And an image of Joanna Lumley as a six-year-old also comes to mind:

The girls were been decorating Father's Day gifts. While cleaning up afterward, Maggie apparently didn't notice all of the paint she'd gotten on herself:
Could we have a little "Matador getting ready" music, please?
Maggie has gotten pretty good riding her bike. Too bad the street outside is not a good place to ride

Yes, three years makes a difference - especially at that age.
Fourth of July, 2011 - in their Great-Granny's kitchen in Hartford Alabama; Maggie age five, Natalie age three.

Re: More Stuff
Apparently I have some sort of an unusual "way" with critters, where I can get close enough to bees and bunnies and birds to take photos from pretty much point-blank range (which is convenient seeing as how I've never owned any sort of telephoto lens, or for that matter a camera that even had changeable lens). I've had plenty of people get annoyed when I wouldn't tell them what sort of special long-distance lens I obviously must have used. . .AnotherFairportfan wrote:I was lucky with that bee. It just happened to be there, and i had the long lens on, so i didn't have to get close enough to disturb it.
That's one thing that I've never really had a lot of luck with myself. Not so much due to trying to take a photo at just the right time and place, but rather due to not ever having a camera with a fast enough shutter speed (or the digital equivalent). Though I've managed to get plenty of photos of some very nice blurs over the years.Wish i'd managed to catch it in flight, though.

From over at the Misfile boards:

A while ago, i was going to make a peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich. Something interrupted me, i forget what, and i never got back to it.
However, i had set a red plastic plate on the counter next to the refrigerator.
Somewhat later, i came back into the kitchen:

Prettiest cat i ever saw was a tuxedo-point Siamese.
Though the little calico that my first wife and i had was absolutely beautiful - according to a friend who sometimes helped judging cat shows her markings were just about perfect - the dividing line between colours on her face and muzzle was perfectly centered and absolutely straight.

Heh. I'm amused that when I clicked that link, the first cat picture it showed me was this xkcd comic.shadowinthelight wrote:Courtesy of The Cat API. They provide a picture address you can post that will show a random image each time you refresh the page.

Re: More Stuff
I haven't been online as much the past couple of nights because I was making preparations for something. It was time to put my '06 Corolla out to pasture. It served me well but had multiple problems including significant body damage incurred during the last ice storm that came through here. I picked up my new ride this morning before going to work.

2014 Chevy Sonic RS loaded with all the options. It is actually feels a tiny bit slower off the line than the Corolla but once the turbo kicks in it dominates the old car. It might be hard to see if your monitor is dark but it is "ashen gray", not black. She hasn't earned a name yet but I'm leaning towards Cinis (Latin for "ashes"). And yes, I'm annoyed by the badly placed inspection sticker.

And two days later you will receive your recall notification about your ignition switch. Welcome to the club.

Re: More Stuff
Some pictures from three years ago of Miss Kitty, who went missing slightly more than a year ago.
She was so sweet.
When we lived in an apartment, she would just walk into people's apartments if they opened the door, so we hope she found a good home.
===============
We're pretty sure that she was abandoned by some bastard when she got pregnant - she was barely old enough to: she turned up at the convenience store where Kate was working. Kate went out to smoke, and Kitty walked straight up to her and said "Feed me."
The nearest homes were the better part of a half-mile or more away, across Very Busy roads. She was obviously not malnourished, her coat was clean and sleek.
A woman who worked for a vet in the area said that her boss was part of a group of vets who did low-cost neuter/spay services and that she would do Kitty for $15, if we'd take her in.
So we did.
I named her "Miss Kitty", but if i'd watched her a little longer, as she reacted to having all the food she wanted after being on her own for a while, i'd likely have named her "Miss Scarlett", because she definitely had an As-God-is-my-witness-I'll-never-be-hungry-again attitude for a few days...
We miss her a lot.

There was a pretty serious recall relating to the exhaust system before but it was for the 2012 model with the 1.8L engine. Mine is newer and has the 1.4L Turbo engine.jwhouk wrote:And two days later you will receive your recall notification about your ignition switch. Welcome to the club.
