Okay, a bit of WOG and fan speculation:

Mindy wears the glasses for a particular reason, which should be obvious: anyone who saw her "real form" sans glasses would fall in love with her amazing beauty, akin to what was likely her great-grandma Aphrodite's lot in life. This is why the glasses always appeared swirly and strange in strips where she has appeared.

There's a lot of possible gags or storylines that could come from this, not the least of which is her removing her glasses and enchanting whoever the Monster of the Week may be at the mansion where we last left the Scoobies.

Based on this drawing, it appears that they throw a bit of freckle (or acne) glamour.

Hmmm... glasses that allow her to alternate between two different aspects? Bipolaroids?

Weak puns aside,

it might be the same reason why Tina's eyes are swirly-silver-like. The swirling mechanics make the observer not see what is directly in front of them, and the observer's brains just fill in the rest. With Tina, we see a dark-haired, skinny-ish barista instead of a horde of demons. With Mindy, we see a geeky teenage girl with freckles, acne, and dingy hair instead of a blonde goddess.

I'm not sure how "canon" some of those eBay pics are. I mean, just look at the one with Atsali carrying 14 beers! That just breaks suspension of disbelief right there...
