I thought we already had that when the soldiers did not see who destroyed the helicopters.

If Lily touches the spider, I doubt that they will go to Mesa Verde to meet Brandi. But where will they go? As I recall, Kath used the hand-shaped key.

She did but it went away and apparently was replaced by the crystal spider. More than likely the gate is now set to take them to the Spider Women, not Mesa Verdi.

Glyphstones, meet the Glyphstones.

From inside Mesa Verde,
Watching for the MIB.

Sprechen of spiders, I've got new web-hammocks for the upper reaches of Confusion Corner on order. This batch will be tie-dyed.

kingklash, you're a genius.

So, the MIB troops are now MIA and presumed AWOL. This is a fine SNAFU - this whole assignment looks inches away from becoming FUBAR.

Well, I suppose that would save us the trouble of walking all the way to the counter for our treats.

That's what I recall. Possibly it's moved, or (worse) become recursive with Mucho Mocha, so that Tina has to go out of Mucho Mocha to come back in from another portal to serve the crumpets. That would be even more Confusing for everyone.

I find it likely that the "soldier Kids" may have poited away. They could very well be some of the immortal Politicians. We know that there are several of them and we have seen only one and he poited.

It might also explain why Lily didn't appear to recognize the alcove for what it was when she was talking with Katherine. She recognizes it now. Maybe the bottom alcove is the simplified controls for people who aren't human slide rules? Just guessing wildly.
but then she's forgetting the fact that she JUST talked to Kat when she was in the UPPER alcove, so why would she even be looking in the lower one then?. also her statement about the spider glyph being REPLACED means she's either personally familiar with this specific gate... OR, that ALL the Anasazi Stargates are SUPPOSED to be identical... and this one ISN'T... but i do like the idea of the poiting plug... that would definitely be one security feature that'll be hard to bypass... to move it "conventionally" you would have to destroy the rock AROUND it, thus destroying the gate mechanism itself... and i'll bet there is either an "anti-poiting" effect placed on it, or that the plug MUST be there in order to make the gate work at all (probably has part of the control circuitry running thru it... if it ain't there, the gate fizzles) so you couldn't have someone that can poit things (e.g. like the GG's) just poit it away to gain access to the upper hole... then of, course there is the "security by obscurity" effect... though that has just been rendered null, due to the collapse of the surrounding floors... it's NOT obscured any more...
Doh! I wasn't thinking about Lily's perspective. I guess she could be checking out the newly opened alcove for any scraps of clues because it is the only alcove in which to look. Incidentally, if the plug is indeed in the top alcove now, That could be what Suzi is hanging from (or standing upside down under) in "Not Here".

Wow, you put a lot of thought into the design of the poiting plug. I'm impressed. I especially like the idea of having circuitry running through it.

As far as the spider glyph is concerned, maybe Lily is simply reading the glyphs, and the spider sticks out like a non sequitur where the words "don't press that button" should be.

That sounds a lot like the two doors of the Lady and the Tiger. While it does sound nice I think it is overly complex for the gate entry. One thing to keep in mind is the spider device predates the building that hid it. I doubt it would have been carved with the multiple floor underground building existed and it exended up and down over many floors. That would be the hard way to make it. The security it has is remote location, carved in a cliff, buried and hidden by a building, Multiple floors to hide the fact a carving is there, and a device that is genitally coded to only work for Anasazi. Why the two doors as well?

We might want to consider why was the carving hidden the way it was? Also which came first the carving or the base? Was the gate installed in the carving or was the carving made around the gate?

If you look closely, Suzi is hanging down from the inverted triangular opening... you can clearly see it. This is why I went back and noted all the strips where we saw the whole carving, or at least part of the openings. ( See here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=944&start=20#p17363 )The bottom triangle was definitely a protrusion from the wall below the open, upper, inverted triangle. I have to wonder if the trigger to open the lower opening is in the upper alcove, which when triggered, allows or causes the protruding stone to slide back into the bottom opening, clearing the opening and allowing access to the stargate?
You know that light at the end of the tunnel?

Yeah... it's a bullet. Sorry.

Okay, you know what? I'm gonna pull out Occam's razor here.

Pablo probably forgot that the alcove was pointed with the triangle's "sharp edge" down, and it probably started with March 22nd's comic (Get These Pics). When he switched to the Dead Sea Dig flashback, he may have forgotten about it.

There is one other explanation, of course: beyond the protruding wedge we see in the first pictures of the alcove is an open area that leads down to the "lower floor" of the alcove. That's where we see Kath laying on her back and Atsali crying.

In the comic where Suzi is seemingly defying gravity (I Have The Key), she's actually looking down from the "top" alcove - which may or may not have moved when the copter crashed into it, or when Kath activated the stargate, or whatever.

Ah. I see that now. Suzi's legs are bending horizontally into the upper alcove--not upward out of the panel.

Jwhouk is probably right. But Occam's razor cuts the fun out; I prefer to assume that Pablo is perfect when I try to understand what's going on. It's just more fun that way.

Walking to the counter for treats?? FEH! I've made this place my home with a fully functional kitchen. I make my own brownies, muffins, and biscuits (because biscuits is definitely what I'm craving today...with some sausage gravy...). :) I don't walk anywhere for treats...unless another resident of The Corner has better eats than me at the time...or has already finished brewing some tea while my water is still heating up... :P
