The Asian continents are rife with penis images, fetishes and even festivals.

I've got to stop clicking on these links. There is not enough brain bleach in the free world to fade that image from my mind. You would think by now they would have evolved a more stylized version of the phallus to paint on their houses. Painting the real thing is just crude. I don't care if it is part of their culture, it's just crude.Dave wrote:Here's one example - Not Suitable For Work in most Western countries, although the Bhutanese wouldn't even bat an eyelash at it

There's one on the Diskworld, you know.
And it has an inscription in Oggham runes.
Which Nanny Ogg translates as "I've got a great big tonker."
Not even duct tape can fix stupid. But it can muffle the noise.

Dave, it seems you all have lotsa fun on your hols!!! My family has always been free thinking, coming from Scotland, (moved to south London after the war )
Atomic is right, it is a good luck charm for fertility, may your crops grow well, etc.. the Chinese/ Japanese have a big ceremony where a giant phallus is a major part of the parade!
I sometimes wish the English would stop obsessing over it.. A lot of very religious Europeans I know have no problem with it...
I have a nice Portuguese wife, who always joke about translations.. "what?? park it on the 'corner'?? " ( Portuguese slang for pussy...)

I remember various warnings to humans meeting Kzinti for the first time, that their smiles (especially showing teeth) are NOT friendly. I don't think warnings were necessary after they met a Kzin.MerchManDan wrote:Granted, but in that instance she is actually smiling from delight.
