Well, mystery solved. Atsali pulled her s**t together to save Katherine, and once on solid ground, Katherine understandably lost hers.

As far as Atsali goes: that was well and truly earned!

As far as Katherine goes: that was well and truly earned!

Well, now we know that Atsali is not a chicken but is still a Turkey.

Color me skeptical... I'm still not convinced Atsali was the saviour here. Panels one and two... Atsali is seemingly praying then rejoicing when Kath is saved (the word bubbles would be "Please pleasepleaseplease... for panel one and YESSSSSSS!!! for panel two)... of course it's quite short lived as Katherine, finally on solid ground, delivers the shot heard round the world... or at least to the edge of the Mapimi Silent Zone... I think the reason Kath kicks her might be that Atsali wasn't the one to save her even though she has wings and obviously took flight to save herself. I'm still getting the vibe based on the last panel from yesterday and all three images presented here today that either Phix, Shelly or Tina saved the day or we are about to meet another apo.

which leaves us to ponder... If an angry human kicks a siren in the ass and they are in the mapimi silent zone, does it make a sound?

I could be wrong, and if I am I'll admit it gladly, but I'm just getting a different vibe from the images saying that all is not as it appears. (I was a military police investigator in the Army and tend to key in on the little things... but I'd usually have a bit more to work with all at once, rather than the snippets we get each day here)

*drops a slightly bent siren tail feather in the pun jar on my way to bed...*
You know that light at the end of the tunnel?

Yeah... it's a bullet. Sorry.

I took those two panels more as her "sticking the landing" and celebrating.

So if Atsali came to work with you she'd be a police siren? :P

Now, now. You don't bite the hand that feeds you nor kick the ass who just saved you. Well, the ass of the ass who just saved you.
Too bad about those tail feathers. Kind of ruin her otherwise majestic look with those huge wings.

Ummm ... do those stars indicate that Atsali's butt ... or Katharine's bare toes ... are taking damage?

Yes, they do. Also, notice that out here, unlike in the Bibliothiki, transformations are hard on the wardrobe.

Now we know why Kath lost her boots yesterday. If she still had them on she would have kicked her harder. Nice humor with them coming off but Atsi really deserves to be kicked with the boots on.

Indeed. I believe that would be another indication she hulked-up more in this case than she did at the Library. The fabric must be somewhat stretchy since it still form-fit her when she got smaller, but I guess there is a limit when going the other way. And the shirt is torn out for the wings now which makes me wonder why it wasn't when she had wings in the Library? I guess the wing slits it must have had in it can accommodate just so much as well.

I have to agree with DilyV; the images of Atsali in the first two panels are of an onlooker, not a participant in the action. Atsali needs a few more kicks to engage her brain into useful function and to drive the point home: Think before you act!
