I'm thinking that maybe outright social and sexual manipulation of an entity capable of wiping people entirely out of space-time (or wiping out space-time altogether) may not be the wisest sort of practice to be practicing.

As a general rule, I don't expect wisdom from teens. Hell, I don't often see it from adults, so these kids are batting way above average for most of their decisions.
There is no such thing as a science experiment gone wrong.
