(it's extremely difficult to be as phonetically lyrical as one desires, typing from this tiny assed screen...)

Forgive my, my friends, for I have filked. The ballet lift seemed to call for a musical accompaniment.

Filking is just like what Heinlein said about writing: "Writing is not necessarily something to be ashamed of, but do it in private and wash your hands afterwards."Dave wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 9:14 am Forgive my, my friends, for I have filked. Just read a Heinlein quote in the last issue of Reader's Digest.
Heinlein is officially No Longer Cool.

If that's your standard for not-coolness ...Heinlein published stories in The Saturday Evening Post - beginning with "The Green Hills of Earth" - "The Menace from Earth" was another.Opus the Poet wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 6:36 pm Just read a Heinlein quote in the last issue of Reader's Digest.

Reasonably certain that Saturday Evening Post published Vonnegut, too.
And they published Wibberley's Mouse that Roared as a series. Loved that story when I was a kid. Not that wild for pinot noir as an adult, though. (Too soft. I like more astringent reds.)
Lotta exposure to both SEP and Reader's Digest in my youth. The Post was on the slide, but the Digest was never good, really. Though it was said to be a great place to work.
