Okay, I gave this some thought and figured since you missed your first try and don't want to just admit you don't know what to do, here's a plan:

Get a box of chocolate and two cards. Make sure their envelopes are different colors, red and white. The red one gets a romantic theme where you spill your true feelings. The white is a fun one where you put goofy stuff in. Put everything in your backpack.

On the big day itself wait to see how Shawna set up the evening:

If she got you a big super romantic evening: Grab the chocolate and the red envelope, respond in kind.

If she just got you a friendship card to be funny, grab the white envelope, get the chocolate as appropriate.

If she feels valentine's is silly, get only the chocolate mentioning it was on sale and would be fun to share while watching a movie.

In all cases, snuggle up with your girlfriend.
