Good thing it was previously established Valerie is easily startled. Still, she was running away from something, maybe Digit reverted to her half-spider form and made A Noise?

Cass must have been taking self-restraint lessons recently. She didn't even look as if she was about to violently vaporize Valerie, let alone do so.

Interesting, also, that Valerie seems to be going all squiddo from her hands, as well as her face. We've never seen her do that before. Perhaps she's just the slightest bit upset about something?

She forgot she's a planetary defense cannon. It's probably going to come to her in 3, 2...

It's hard to tell, as dark as things are, but is there something behind Cass?

In the Wapsi universe, odds are good that Slenderman exists, that he's a really sweet guy who is a total chess nerd and that he's got a slenderdaughter of Cass's age.

Seems to me Paul is more interested in classical/ancient mythology, Slenderman is modern... mythology. And I’m speaking generously here. Once you let slender man be part of your universe, so can anything from the SCP Foundation and then it’s a short slide to memes. At least that’s how I’d see it.

Do the spooky things not know who they are messing with? Slowpoke Rodriguez, he pack a gun.
Dear, don’t bore him with trivia or burden him with your past mistakes. The happiest way to deal with a man is never to tell him anything he does not need to know. L. Long

Well, we know that the Slenderman myth does exist in the Wapsiverse. Atssli mentioned it to Skylar, as an example about how "viral belief" in something can actually make it real. (I don't recall Atsali saying that Slenderman had yet reached the point of taking on physical reality, though.)

So, maybe, the Wapsiverse hasn't yet entered meme-space. If any of the characters turns out to be a feloid and says anything about cheeseburgers, we'll know that the Rubicon had been crossed.

Oh, that happened decades ago. Male pattern baldness, y'know... runs in the family. :P

Are you sure? That sounds more like Ogden Nash.

I understood that reference.

I even have that cartoon on VHS.

Pretty sure it's from Edward Lear's nonsense verse, but I can't find anything firm either way.
