Wow. That Scarlet sure seems to know her stuff!

And we have now passed a milestone in the story: puppy love was acknowledged, and has been left behind!

Some of these "kids" are far older than they appear, Castel is older than Atsali, but took longer to be able to even approach humaniform appearance so Castel is behind in school and appearance.

There's just no telling who that is, just yet...

Okay, that was cruel.

Funny, but cruel.

Gotta keep the angsty drama pruned back somehow.

Ah, puppy love -- the worst 45 minutes my ten-year-old self could possibly bear. Until ice cream.

It's bad enough for Pixies and fox-people. Imagine how bad it must have been for Jessie and Krystle, living in the mermaid culture with its focus and anxieties about social status and ranking. If Jessie's mother thought that Jessie was "too good for friends", imagine how she'd react to Jessie having an "unsuitable" boyfriend?

And they call it guppy love
just because my guy's a bream.
Yes, they call it guppy love
when we're kissing in our stream.

And don't get me started on the emotional traumas of the whole fresh-water/salt-water conflict. Worse than the Montagues and the Capulets. The tragedy of Squiddio and Jewelfish (by William Shakespearfish) is on the curriculum at every water-para middle school's literature class, but the kids simply don't get the message.

The salmon-folk have been trying to break through the dams of prejudice for a long time, but I think they're just swimming upstream.

It's also possible that this is just some sort of pixie-related thing that other paranormals and humans might not have an equivalent for. For all we know, pixies are like ichneumonids, and Hiroshi's residual butterflyness is triggering Shawna's instincts to lay her eggs in him so that her larvae can devour him.

Or broken heartwood. That could get sappy.

Dave, I love you. Now, go stand in the corner and think about what you've done!

Why are you incorriging him to think about puns?

Go with the phloem, man.
AnotherFairportfan wrote:Why are you incorriging him to think about puns?
Because his real name is William, and everyone calls him Incorrigibill?

That sounds like a bad guy from a children's cartoon show.
