Are we in the right comic? I see actual, productive, sensible communication. From both characters, even! :P

Never fear - the hey have the normal complement of feet and mouths...

I don't think I would like Hiroshi's mother. Talk about cutting someone off at the knees... :(

Hiroshi's mom sounds... well, not very nice, does she? I'm starting to see why he spent a year and a half as a butterfly and was not found until Castela cured him.

Wonder if she hangs out with Krystle's mom?

Someone needs to introduce her to Katherine for a little parenting lesson.

Anyone know what size educational footwear Katherine wears?

Or perhaps Nadette and Berdine's mom.

Or Skylar's...?

That poor kids mom sets a new standard for tough parenting. Makes me wonder if she is the source for the legends of witches.
Dear, don’t bore him with trivia or burden him with your past mistakes. The happiest way to deal with a man is never to tell him anything he does not need to know. L. Long

Hiroshi's female custodial parent seems like the embodiment of Quan Yin, the goddess of caring and motherly love. /s

I'm not sure I'm liking Hiroshi's mom that much, from the description. I assume she's the Fae, and she may be speaking the truth; although I suspect Hiroshi has more going for him that just looks and kindness. But there are BETTER ways to say such things to your child, even if he is an oblivious airhead and you feel you need to use a sledgehammer approach to make him get the message.

Agreed.

It's that use of the word/attitude "only" that grates on me. It's a way of saying "Kid, you will never be more than this. You're incapable of anything more. There is no more. You cannot grow. You cannot find or create a better solution to your airheaded nature. You are stuck, forever... give up."

Telling a kid that he has issues is one thing. Telling him that he's nothing more than his issues is another.

It's almost the flip side of the attitude Jessie's mother had... that Jessie's life should be defined by her role and social status, not by who she was... that she couldn't/shouldn't have friends because she was "too good for friends".

Doesn't matter. A good set of one-size-fits-all strap-on ice crampons would equip Kath with the necessary get-the-message-across spikes.

She does pretty well even without shoes.
