Theory: this is an alternate universe where Katherine adopted a young orphan boy named Dustin before ever meeting Atsali.

As a result, she does not meet Atsali or Castela, adopting neither, thus Castela is not present in the ghost club. Timmy is missing as well because he was not there to be Castela's friend, but Dustin grew up with Daylla, eventually becoming her boyfriend. Hiroshi is not present either because Castela was not there to heal his curse, and neither is Shawna as she tagged along to be near Hiroshi.

Butterfly effect in more ways than one here!

Umm... take a look at yesterday's strip. Dustin asks his Scarlet "What's the better half and Pickle doin' with the digital recorder?"

Unless that's not Castela, but someone else who quite coincidentally happens to have the nickname "Pickle", I think your theory needs a bit of tuning.

Dang, that one line sucker punches my theory pretty hard.

Dustin might be WV-2's version of Atsali.

A cross dimensional / universe relationship? And with an alternative version of another girl's boyfriend? And they say soap operas are complex...

Anyway, Earth One Daylla seems to be figuring things out, but it's not clear what the next step is. She needs to get back to her side, Dustin needs to do the same, we need to find out what happened to Earth Two Daylla and if there's any hope there (if the latter IS still alive but stuck between dimensions, could the two Dayllas meet face to face?), and we need to do this before Castela gets frantic enough to start calling in her aunts and using her powers to try to follow Daylla where ever she's gone, and messes things up.

Okay, one more complication to go in this pile of theories.

Dustin here says that his Daylla is dead. From what we know about Daylla (not very much admittedly) she is made of living metal, and she is durable enough to only get slightly injured at the sleepover kerfuffle that injured Nadette and Atsali to the same level and ripped off Pickle's head. So whatever wound up killing off this supposed alternate-world Daylla had to be a high-level apex predator (like Pickle or Monica) or some other kind of cataclysm.

Considering that "Dustin" is being very non-specific about something that should have been specific and noteworthy makes me feel that this whole situation is a sham. It's a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham.

I'm thinking Dustin just *thinks* his Daylaa is dead, based on his perceptions. She might well not actually be 'dead', just 'gone'...

Or, the Dayla from Dustin's world isn't a particularly durable sort of para.

After all, it looks a lot like Dustin is a TImmy analog, but he's a good bit taller and probably a couple years older AND has a different name.

Elliot Dunkel's analogs from other universe include a number of females named Ellen and at least one male named Ellen.

Though Sarah did have a problem with transformations for a while.
