What I can't figure out, is just why Daylla is doing what she's doing. She has got to know that she's making both Castela and Hiroshi terribly uncomfortable... and if she's just trying to shuffle them together so that they can work out their mutual crushes, then pushing Shawna into the situation seems more likely than not to interfere.

The way things are going, at least one of those three is likely to get hurt somehow (emotionally at least, and maybe physically if Castela loses her temper).

Unless Daylla somehow has access to knowledge or wisdom of a very high (adult) order, she could be letting her enthusiasm and sense of mischief get ahead of her, and contributing to something very hurtful. She's juggling precious eggs, in variable gravity.

Daylla isn't just putting fuel in the fire. Not even just liquid oxygen on the fire. She's dumping a tank-car full of chlorine trifluoride on the fire.

So... why?

Daylla's having too much fun here.

(The ghosts in the room were having such a nice, quiet after life experience until all of a sudden, all this teenage angst and storm and strife showed up...)

Because she knows Castela, I would assume. And believes that unless the Pickle gets goaded, she'll just sit around ripping flowers out of her hair and denying her feelings until she loses Hiroshi like he lost Timmy. Shawna is clearly making a play for the guy; Castela will have to either fish or cut bait. And that might be the only way to get this relationship off the ground.

They certainly can't expect Hiroshi to do anything. The guy's in the dictionary beside the word "clueless".

I never thought to see it but we actually have someone more clueless in Hiroshi than we had in Stali. Yes i do think Daylla is forcing
Pickle to act instead of simply accepting a fait accompli as she did with Timmy. I just hope that it doesn't result in someone being broken down into their component molecules.

Hiroshi is looking like Wile E. Coyote right before the bolder hits.

You're probably right, alas. We were all more than a bit stupid/thoughtless/short-sighted at that age.

So, this could turn out to be quite a learning experience for Daylla (as well as the others).

It's a good thing they stopped when they did. After the ahn woon come the bassoon, poltroon, rangoon, and finally, the brigadoon!

Ah, yes... the rangoon.

If I recall correctly, it's a bit like a smaller, one-handed lirpa... a cross-mounted blade, handle, and weighed pommel. No good for stabbing, but it makes vicious slashing attacks towards the body, head, and throat. For some reason, the Vulcans referred to decapitation by the rangoon as a "Burma shave".

Dave, someday the Pun Jar is going to come for both of us. I have sneakers and a grappling hook. I hope you're prepared. It may only be one day in a hundred years, but when you hear the bagpipes....
