Re: Quirky Girl
Guy talks like something out of a bad romance comic.
OTOH, Katharine's eyes didn't freak him out.
On the gripping hand, perhaps his own eyes just hadn't gotten that high yet.

Well, that was an interesting way to fish for a guy.

Normally I really enjoy the strip. After last week and the major revelations that came out I was hoping for something even more that this. Sorry but a lactose intolerant fish taking up a whole week is just sad. I mean this is a long way to go simply for fart jokes don't you think. Best excuse I can think of is Paul burned his brain out with finally revelaving major plot information last week. Then he looked at it and said, 'Meh! Just scribble something next and I'll get back to it the week after. So at least this is over and hopefully we can get back to Shelly and Nudge, or Monica with Phix in the library. There has to be all sorts of interesting things going on there right now.

I'm glad to see Kath meeting someone. I think that was refreshing, fart jokes aside. This dude Best go after her and ask her out, or get her number at least. For all we know this could be Kaths first date, among OTHER firsts, NowutImean eh eh?

Re: Quirky Girl
This week has been really refreshing. I can only take so much plot twisting before my neck starts hurting. Even though i want to know what's going on, I feel like this is a nice break and I'm not up til late trying to figure out whats going to happen next.
Re: Quirky Girl
So, am I the only one looking at the Knight's comments in the last panel & thinking there are multiple people in there discussing Kath?

shadowinthelight, that can't POSSIBLY be the pun jar! I remember a mint condition '54 DeSoto being in there somewhere.

Re: Quirky Girl
i could almost believe that except it doesn't quite fit, maybe at best a conversation between two people but i perceive it as more likely that he is in fact just talking to himself and noticing a particularly fine butt. occams razor and all, it hasn't been ruled out that he has a demon/paranormal problem but to date only one guy has ever come with these kinds of strings attached.Dane wrote:So, am I the only one looking at the Knight's comments in the last panel & thinking there are multiple people in there discussing Kath?
also, Zachariah needs to take an alcohol flavored chill pill.

@everyone and @zachariah
I do not believe that Paul would devote a whole week just to fart jokes (which I found humorous, I'll sheepishly admit ). I wonder if we didn't just meet Prometheus.

Re: Quirky Girl
Paul has a history of pulling off these sorts of "bootlegger turns" in mood and scene and character within Wapsi Square... "He's done it before, and he'll do it again" as the old WW II fight song lyrics said. He seems to like the contrast, and the opportunity to add a touch of absurdity. Dig through the archives and you'll find a similar week of digression-from-the-serious, involving Monica and various strange beasts consisting of living ice cream... and if I recall properly it came during a very plot-intense time.zachariah wrote:Normally I really enjoy the strip. Burned out his brain? Nah... he's just having fun. I'd bet any number of quatloos that he has the dramatic plotline for the next six months to a year quite well planned, and has for some time (and this interlude was likely also plotted well in advance).
As I see it, this was a week involving a lactose-intolerant fish, and about Katherine - a long-established Wapsi character, now "in the know" about at least some of the paranormal goings-on, who has a long habit of being isolated and lonely and more than a bit strange. Given her known character, it would take an unusual circumstance to spur her into a more normal human contact, and a blarting betta fits the bill.
Me, I've been laughing my ass off and cheering for her all week. May she find someone equally quirky with whom to celebrate Fine Butt Day.
(And, I admit to wonder... the fact that this new gent used exactly the same phrase as Katherine did, stretches the bounds of coincidence all out of shape. Did he hear her speaking with Ocsar, or is something else going on? It would be just like Paul to hide a plot clue out in plain sight...)

Ummmm, I hate to mention that when I tried to make my payment recently, I found your nice box had exploded from the variety and quantity of items in it. I suspect we need something like that, only about 5 meters on a side, at a bare minimum. . . .shadowinthelight wrote:Well, that was an interesting way to fish for a guy.

Re: Quirky Girl
Has everyone forgotten we are reading a comic strip? As in funny things happen and we laugh?

This is the way the comics pattern has always been though. Paul gives us weeks of high angst followed by a week of lighter fluff with characters that have been missed that may just hold the seeds of a future event. His characters follow the erratic line of real life and not always end an event with a clean cut ending.
And besides, Kath was having a good butt day.
