1997?!? That's like... did humans even have fire back then? They carved calendars in mud because they hadn't actually discovered clay then, right?

Thought I had, but apparently I clicked on the wrong place and the Delete didn't take.

Gone now... thanks for the heads-up!

Contrary to what the young whippersnappers believe, that was many years after the invention of dirt in all its forms.

Naw, there was Fire alright, but not written history- you had to sit around the fire and get the verbal narrative from the village griot...

And now I can add 1 to the very limited number of times I've ever seen the noun "griot" used outside of an anthropology or musicology text. Well done!

I can verify I was present for the beta test for Mud, only the Greek alphabet hadn't been invented yet so it wasn't called that.

Was this before or after the Lantians and the Ancient Aliens got involved??

Which reminds me, we have an unopened bottle of Coca-Cola from 1996, commemorating the Olympics. I don't know why my brother thought it'd be worth more unopened, unless you sold it to a museum.

Calling it now- the room's haunted.

Every time this club is mentioned I get "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" flashbacks. They're probably going to get involved in aliens, ESPers, and time travel without knowing it, and never find any ghosts.

Although they might wind up solving crimes. Those annoying kids.

Griot (noun) - "A member of a class of traveling poets, musicians, and storytellers who maintain a tradition of oral history in parts of West Africa."

Oh, now THAT'S interesting! :)

Carved in mud? Why, the next thing you'll be telling me is they actually had pointy sticks.

Of course, the council knew the room was haunted, and they just needed the right people to deal with it, eventually.

Now we find out if they're the right people! Dun dunnn DUNNNNNNNNN.....

Yes, they had pointy sticks in 1997. Teeth and chewing had already been invented, and the first crude toothpick came along not long thereafter (I believe it was on a Tuesday, after lunch).

Of course the room was haunted. It was previously used by the school's Philosophy Club, and in the para world there's nothing like the spirit of inquiry to stir up... well, a spirit or two... personified manifestations of philosophies or beliefs. The curiosity of our young band of explorers is sure to awaken that spirit from its slumber. Ideas and ideologies don't just go away easily, you know.

I'm sure they're the right people, though. They're certainly capable of dealing with the ghost of a notion.

I mean, it would pretty much have to be.
A long unused classroom in Japan? Pretty much guaranteed to be cursed and/or haunted.

Except for the fact that Castela and Co. are not in Japan, but at Griffon High School...

We know that Castela lives in Minneapolis, but we don't know for sure where Griffon is . . . given the way they pop through gates, Griffon could be in Japan too.
