Well, Pablo has been subjecting all of us to acute premeditated emotional whiplash for over a decade now.

It's only fair that some of his characters get to share in the fun.

What Reggie didn't realize is that with Castela, there's something Tsundere...

Half Fae? That's interesting. And now he's a were-butterfly, as well?

You don't see that every day.

(Could he be a Fae spy trying to lie his way out of a whuppin'? I mean, he's already gotten that, but no where near what an angry Castela can deliver. And she IS Blackthorn, which makes it even worse. His effectiveness as a spy is gone, now, unless he can wiggle his way into her good graces...

On the other hand, given Pickle's sensory abilities, she can probably smell lies.)

While we can't tell yet whether he is a spy or not, he is telling the truth about falling for her, as we did see some tell-tale hearts emanating from him when he was in his butterfly form.

So, Reginald/Hiroshi (Reginoshi?) looks to be youngish, possibly still legally a minor, and probably has some family of his own somewhere. I wonder if they will be getting involved in the storyline some time. And given what Cricket has said about Fae, how the paranormal community seems to react to Fae, and the apparent actions of the Fae girl who turned him into a butterfly out of spite, I wonder how stable he himself is with his partial Fae heritage?

And I get the subtle impression that Castela is somewhat conflicted internally. I suppose that it's only to be expected, given that she's got all of the emotional and mental turmoil of a 13-year-old kid combined with some aspects of an ancient sentient tree.

Not very, I suspect. The poor kid is clearly delusional... thinks he's a butterfly.

For all we know, his split heritage is going to turn him into a complete monster. This could be especially bad if he has the same sort of problem Cricket does, of his Fae powers running wild and zapping things if he gets upset. He might end up climbing skyscrapers, abusing his Fae ray, and swatting at airplanes.

As to his family... my recollection is that traditionally, Fae/human hybrids ("halfbreeds" or changelings) often don't have a comfortable family life at all. The parents usually aren't "together", and no matter whether the kid is raised by the Fae or by humans, he/she rarely feels accepted.
And I get the subtle impression that Castela is somewhat conflicted internally.
Ya think?

... who has a serious grudge against the Fae because she blames them for her abandonment. Maybe fairly, maybe not, but her rage is still there.

Love/hate (or lust/loathing) relationships are rarely peaceful.

Ah, half-fae, that explains the lack of being completely murderated the way a true fae would have being hit by her that hard.

By the way, how old is Castela, by now? Do kids that age really go for a full-on kiss like that, nowadays???
