To be fair, it's not the first time it posted that early...

Meanwhile, on the subject of interspecies dating...

Did I miss Reginald being named before?

Either way, adorable.

Yep. Both times before when he turned up at the canyon.

It can't last, butterflies never live more than a year.

We've seen a case of extended insect life in the Wapsiverse. Considering time skips, how long was Digit an arachnid?

Does this mean that she and Digit are going to bond over dating small creatures?

Calling it now, someone will turn up with another ring to get Dietzel back to full size and somehow Reginald ends up wearing it.

It can even end up as a running gag, every few months monica gets a new ring, and another tiny critter gets turned into a humanoid.
Whoever coined the phrase "more fun than a barrel of monkeys" obviously never spent an afternoon cramming the little buggers into one.

Off the wall speculation: Could Reginald be a Fae in disguise watching Castela's power development? That WOULD explain how the little guy keeps getting through the bioshield around the canyon. The problem being, Castela's sense of smell is so acute, if the bug didn't smell like a bug she'd surely notice...

Ah, but I'm probably wrong about the whole thing.

Castela is going to grow into a rather shapely young woman, with 'thinnish' ankles.

WoG posted up some future pix long ago.

The pic of Castela as a seventeen-year-old is on Pablo's DeviantArt Page.

For even more off-the-wall guessing, perhaps he could be a manifestation of some aspect of her own persona. That's why he's able to get through the bioshield: he's not actually going through it, but is simply created by Castela when she is in a certain frame of mind. Or maybe he's the manifestation of Atsali's mother's protective spirit. Or he's just spying on her, because the MiB decided that they wanted to keep track of her movements and to bug the places that she frequents and somebody took that a bit too literally.

There does seem to be a definite friendship blooming, though. His heart may be all aflutter, even.
