ZAP!

I'd say Daylla must have taken Ego Deflation 101, but that's higher-level work than that . . .

Yeah, but her butt isn't exactly big...

Edit: Yeah, ego is the only thing it could be, but that doesn't seem like the sort of thing to make Castela blush.

Also, Daylla missed a perfect opportunity to embarrass her friend further by giving her a butt pat as she walked past. Though, I don't really see either of them being the sort to goof around like that.

Monica and Shelly, maybe, but not these two.

Well, in the middle panel she looks rather large in the chest - although not in quite the same way as her big sister.

And there's always the mouth.

But yeah, ego is a good bet.

Or perhaps it is an issue of body image.
Even the body image issue may have some kind of normal (as opposed to paranormal) antecedents.
By this I mean her human pattern alone might be athletic to start with.
However, IIRC unlike most human athletes, Castela does a fair job of developing an hourglass figure later on.

Hmmm. I was thinking more like, do plant-based paras even have a dorsal orifice, nevermind how big.

Okay, speculation is over. Time is officially askew.

If you go back into the archives, you can find references to Castela being referred to as being 5 at the same time Atsali was 15.

Now, we have canon that says that Castela is 13, when Atsali (not very long ago) turned canonically 18.

At first I tried to shoehorn 'distal' in there, but after trying the 10 sec Google on each I am still unsatisfied w/ both/either.

In response to your query though we can assume that Castela fabricates/forms what ever orifice she needs to match the physical needs of the moment.

One thing we've been taking for granted about the character is that she has a certain default anthropomorphic form, a 'Human Shape' as it where.

It seems to have been developing as she's been getting older, in some ways keeping pace with puberty and in others w/ 'fitting in, in mundane society...'.

Her ankles are one example, her eye(stalks)s are another... We haven't seen her go full-on Thorny-Tumbleweed in quite some time, but I think she's still got it in her somewhere...

So, I'm assuming her 'default' appearance is based on habit, repetition/practice, & self-image. This is one reason I recall back, not too long ago, when she had been pondering the whole 'does this make my butt look big?' type trouble in modern media's take on the female form- and that her best-y was using it as a shoe-horn towards checking her attitude...

(huh, I find I've used 'shoe' & 'horn', together, twice, likely for the first time this year...)

She eats in a normal human fashion. It has to go somewhere.

Ugh! That's the worst, the smell of scorched tribble. Smells like a cross between burnt wool and rotting meat.
