Why is she so sure it's Bud and not Brandy or Jin, or even Tanta Phix?

Probably because it was Bud who showed Castela the place, explained that it was where she went to blow off steam, and told her about the bioshield which kept out fragile mortal lifeforms.

So, it's quite reasonable for Pickle to assume that this is "Bud's Place" and that she's in primary (or sole) charge of it... possibly an incorrect assumption but not, I think, a silly one for her to make.

Have we seen Bud "blow her lid" in anger, more than just that once at Mapimi? Being "set up", and then blown out of a nuclear event of some sort, got her mad enough to melt some dessert down to slag, but even that was a fairly moderate response given her level of innate power.

How long until the butterfly starts answering back?

Well, there was that whole destroying-an-entire-civilisation thing. . .

Other than that, it's been relatively restrained things such as murdering coffee cups or blasting holes in island beaches or confusing gondoliers in Venice.

I wonder how close Pickle is to the GG levels of power?

Ah. I figured it had to be some sort of antipodean hijinks.

Less in terms of physical force, but her destruct power may endanger even them.

On the other hand the Library was able to survive her losing it completely, so obviously there are limits even to her ultimate ability.

I am not so sure about that. People do tend to get stronger as they get mature. Also that was a just general blast effect not a focused strike which i view as the difference between a flashlight and a laser. What got me thinking along these lines is the GG were created as a doomsday weapon and Pickle the same, just curious how effective both programs were.

You know that light at the end of the tunnel?

Yeah... it's a bullet. Sorry.

Yup... and it's canon! Check the "characters" tag on the comic.

(Note: I haven't been reading the daily discussion threads much the past few days, hence the slow reaction.)

Huh. I actually remembered that before I read your explanation.
