Gaaaah! He's delaying the conclusion!
Also, wow, these last two updates seem to be earlier than usual.
EDIT: Whoops, forgot about the date...

Re: Falling 2017-1-17
The warship ran aground?
I hope it doesn't cost too much to replace those glasses.
I guess this lends credence to the train of thought that she was on the up and up, and truly gave up Timmy to Castela. I don't think she'd run like that, blinded by tears, if this had been some kind of plot on her part to come out as the kind, selfless one who ultimately deserves Timothy.
Ladies and gentlemen, what we just saw so far this week is the genuine article, as far as I can tell!

Broken glasses, torn up shins and knees, and I hope that's only a pool of tears. Because that's an awful lot of pool for just tears. That ain't good.

Depends how long she stayed in that position, I guess. It's not impossible.jeffepp wrote:Broken glasses, torn up shins and knees, and I hope that's only a pool of tears. Because that's an awful lot of pool for just tears. That ain't good.

I think it's tears . . . though it wouldn't take much blood to look really really bad.
One day as I walked by the high school home ec room, the screaming started . . . I looked in to find one platinum blonde gal in a white blouse sitting on the floor under an open cupboard with a dazed "oh that hurt" look . . . Blood everywhere! She looked like an extra in an axe murderer flick.
Got some gauze on her, got her over to the clinic . . . she had an inch-long pressure cut! she went home, threw her clothes in cold water, showered, changed and was back to class for the third period!
And that floor must be bloody hard! Glasses shouldn't break that easy.

Scalp cuts tend to bleed a lot... even small ones look horrible and scary. Maybe it's nature's way of saying "hey, that's your head you hit... don't ignore it, go get it checked out properly."FreeFlier wrote:Got some gauze on her, got her over to the clinic . . . she had an inch-long pressure cut! she went home, threw her clothes in cold water, showered, changed and was back to class for the third period!

Back when I still had glasses before laser eye surgery, I had an idiot slap the glasses off my face in the bus and despite landing on a rubber covered floor, they still shattered. I never knew who did that, all I heard was an insincere "sorry" from someone who rushed out of the bus to not get blamed and my eyesight was too blurry to see their face.FreeFlier wrote: And that floor must be bloody hard! Jerk.
Point is... it's not how HARD the surface is, it won't matter if the glasses land flat on their face side.

I don't know if the "Owie" is for the scraped knee/shin, whatever broke her glasses, or that anchor swinging in her hair and pulling on it.
Any of the three could produce the expression.

You can see the blood pool at her knees. The other one is tears.jeffepp wrote:Broken glasses, torn up shins and knees, and I hope that's only a pool of tears. Because that's an awful lot of pool for just tears. That ain't good.

And "a broken heart" makes four. Pick your combination of any or all thereof... whatever you choose, "owie" fits.Opus the Poet wrote:I don't know if the "Owie" is for the scraped knee/shin, whatever broke her glasses, or that anchor swinging in her hair and pulling on it.

That, and it's directly below her eyes, while she's still crying and you can see the tears partway down to the floor...Opus the Poet wrote:You can see the blood pool at her knees. Look at the second panel, and you can see that she is crying a whole lot.
Those are tears, below her face. Not blood. Tears.

Here's hoping of all the people to offer her a hand, it's either Castela or her new crush.

Given that she broke her glasses when she fell, she's lucky that puddle isn't a little bit of both.lake_wrangler wrote:That, and it's directly below her eyes, while she's still crying and you can see the tears partway down to the floor...Opus the Poet wrote:You can see the blood pool at her knees. Edit: That's also exactly the reason why I don't wear my glasses when I shoot any rifle with a scope. There's a picture in photo album, as well.

Oh dear. Broken heart, broken glasses, hopefully no broken bones.
If this were a romance manga someone handsome, kind, and better than Timothy would help her up off the floor and get her to the first aid station, they'd fall in love, and be happier together than she and Timmy could ever be. I don't think this is a romance manga.
Maybe I'm wrong...

It'll be Tim that helps her up. I get the feeling he's not as vacant as we've been led to believe.
He'll come up with a classy line, too, something like "Castela may need me, but so do you."

Whoever coined the phrase "more fun than a barrel of monkeys" obviously never spent an afternoon cramming the little buggers into one.

US standard calls for glasses to be tempered glass, so they shouldn't have broken that easily. I've worn glasses for more than forty years . . . I've been hit hard enough to break the frames, I've dropped them on concrete on multiple occasions including lenses down, and chipped the corner of a one lens once. edit: And I think that the chipped lens was when the lens popped out of the frame . . .Drakkenmensch wrote:. . . Though I suppose those could be plastic lenses . . . mine are always glass because I can't wear plastic. Don't know how plastic holds up in the real world, other than it scratches real easily.

A mystic would say it's a simple question of balance. Castela almost lost her temper, but didn't, and so something else had to. Just bad luck it was Scarlet's glasses.FreeFlier wrote:US standard calls for glasses to be tempered glass, so they shouldn't have broken that easily.Drakkenmensch wrote:. . . A physicist, on the other hand, would say that it's a loss of balance: that it's a case of spontaneous symmetry breaking, occurring when the emotional temperature dropped. Such symmetry breakings are a fundamental prediction of modern "Grand Unification Theories" in physics, and as I said yesterday, it took GUTs for Scarlet to say what she did. I'm not entirely sure which forces were involved in this symmetry breaking, but I'd guess it involves the strong force of emotion, and the gravity of the situation.
A musician would say it's just artistic irony... the con's sound system was playing The Rolling Stones' "Shattered" at the time.

If it stays true to form then the hand about to appear will be her true love. Yea i dont buy it either.
