And now for something completely different ...

"We're knights of the round table ... our shows are formidable ..."

Some tomboys are known to be acutely allergic to the color pink, and frills can lead to severe asthmatic wheezing.

That outfit is not very battle appropriate.

I think it's interesting she kept her spiky bracelets through the transformation.

I think some repressed memories may be beginning to resurface.

Oh God! Not a princess! Anything but a princess!!

Of course the last time this scenario played out, one of her alternate selves died shortly thereafter. And, worse yet, Shellinx knew she would die in the process of extracting the radioactive material. None of which explains why it had to be that way when Shellinx could have easily ripped the tree apart herself. So much about the original characters is unexplained. So many plot points simply dropped. Like how did her dad handle the news of her being a sphinx? Does he even know? Did he know all along? Did he even know who his wife really was all along? What about her supernaturally strong brothers?

Maybe not so much repressed as undealt with. Shelly caused the deaths of 50+ versions of herself. Even with 80,000 years of wisdom, it being for a good cause (curing Jin's schizophrenia), and few other options, that's got to be a burden.

(Although I still hold no actual Shellys were killed in the manufacture of the Vimana cell. I base this, oddly enough, on Jin.

Calendar Reset #1: Shelly touches Artifact, dies. Jin says "Huh".

Calendar Reset #2: Shelly touches Artifact, dies. Jin - who remembers this happened before - goes "OK, that's not a coincidence, I'm going to need Shelly to fix the Calendar Machine, so from now on, no touching."

Calendar Reset #3: Shelly goes to touch the Artifact, Jin stops her, this version of Shelly doesn't go to the Time Forest, the chain is broken, she lives. Jin keeps doing this for all subsequent resets, Sphinx Shelly gets no more visitors, kills no further versions of herself.

Now, consider instead what happens if death in the Time Forest just sends you back to your original body.

Calendar Reset #1: Shelly touches Artifact, suddenly starts babbling about dying, radiation, a Sphinx that looks like her, and a forest. When she calms down enough Jin gets the whole story and concludes "Somebody's building a Vimana cell in another dimension. Nobody's hurt, this doesn't seem to be an impediment to my repair efforts, and since the Artifact seems to have some connection to me, I guess I'll let this proceed. Maybe I can find out more each time."

Of course, I could be wrong...)

It was a gal who wielded Excalibur in Fate/Stay Night. If memory serves, she wore blue, black, and white. No pink.

And it was the guys at Baltimore Knives and Swords that forged a functional replica of said Excalibur from period weapon fragments. They've also made the scissor blade from Kill-la-Kill with a bunch of old scissors.

After we watch Shelly #1 die, the Sage (not yet revealed to be our Shelly) says something about watching then all die.

Yes. But does death in the Forest mean death on Earth as well, or is it like virtual reality in which you 'die' in the simulation but are fine (well, except for the shock) in real life? We don't know enough to say definitively; but as I pointed out, if Jin kept seeing Artifact + Shelly = Dead Shelly, you'd think she'd do something to stop that...

Perhaps next time it will be a Comanche princess outfit, with pink buckskin and pink shells?
shadowinthelight wrote:That outfit is not very battle appropriate.
Maybe as part of some kind of psychological warfare.
Sgt. Howard wrote:... is this like 'the sound of one hand clapping'?
Nah, that's more of a really quiet "woosh woosh woosh".

Thing is, I wonder how many times Shelly never even made it to the forest, because they screwed up the Calendar Machine? Or was that what happened when Shel (x-56, for values of x presumably greater than 1) got sucked into the Calendar Machine?

...the sound of me clapping with one hand sounds like a golf clap. I can fling my hand in such a way that my fingers slap my palm. It's still not very loud, though.
