How is Castela talking before everything gets sort of reconnected?

(In her case, it isn't surprising that decapitation is not a big deal; I'd expect it to be easy to fix, perhaps causing her to lose a little weight...)

OK donnyc the rest will be along shortly to comment. Its also customary to include a link to the current comic to allow easy access to it from here. Now i must say that does sound like it was a great sleepover and would someone please reattach the tumbleweeds head.

Thats an easy one to answer FM. You got no problem with a plant hybrid talking but now you wanna ask how its talking with the head not attached?

Seems like the only one who came out relatively unscathed was pickle...

So, were they keeping the doctor and nurse in stitches, or vice versa, or both?

Yup... decapitation is "merely a flesh wound."

She can talk when she's just a big tangle of thorny vines...

Well that answers the question of where Pickle doesn't keep her brain (or the analog thereof).

Just my humble opines
1. Pickle is a plant, doesn't actually have "parts" like members of the animal family. She coils into forms resembling parts, but still just a plant. Like Groot.
2. Everyone else is sporting bandages and plaster casts, indicating lacerations and broken bones.
3. Pickle just wants to fit in, so she is holding her "head".
4. I don't think Atsali will be able to retract her wing with bandage on it.
5. Moms are not and will not be amused. Once the worry is gone--wrath of mom will start.
6. It could have been worse.
7. Lets all go to Tina's for refreshing beverages!

What we're not seeing is the strand of thorns that is behind Pickle's head. She's holding her head because she has to wait for her neck to re-weave into place...
