So... as an entirely hypothetical thought experiment...

If one wished to express compassion towards a semi-disembodied pair of legs, which has just given one a swift kick in the tuchus... what form would that expression of compassion take?

A warm hug could be awkward. A pat on the shoulder, impossible.

I'm thinking it might be a... Uh... I dunno how to describe this...

A portal cut?

So, at the top of (sigh) Nethers, there would be a horizontal portal, with someone's torso poking out of empty space somewhere else in the Nether. The whole person is attempting to simply walk, but ends up accidentally and innocently kicking Atsali's bum.

Now it's up to Atsali to determine how she will react to this... If she gets her siren/demon on and obliterates Nethers, someone, perhaps a friend, will feel their own legs get obliterated.

Aha... And then Atsali will have to face the damage she caused without knowing... AHA! Because she unknowingly hurt Devyn by getting her roped into this whole social fiasco, and now she is facing the damage she unwittingly caused! HA!

That's my headcanon and I'm sticking to it until Paul says or draws otherwise.

Also, they look rather more slender and not as long as Atsali's
All this is true. That raises the question of whose legs they are, though. We've seen simulacrums of Devyn in Nether before, and it's not clear if she was wearing thigh-highs today. They might be hers; or something like the teddy bear / monster. It's also not clear why just the lower half of a body. Maybe the idea IS to give Atsali a kick. She needs one. She's focusing only on herself and ignoring that the cheerleaders, the Flight Club, etc, etc are in Nether too and at danger. She should be trying to find them instead of cowering. She IS, after all, a heroine. Even if she doesn't seem to realize it.
They're too long to be Devyn's, so perhaps a simulacrum of `Dette's lower half. As to why it'd be Nadette's lower half, that's something else entirely. And considering how this Nether works, I doubt that it would be for some of the reasons one might bee- line to. They're all minors, BTW. With the possible exception of one of the flight team and one or two of the cheerleaders.

With a swift kick to the tukas to get her moving i just hope the next attack isnt a literal clue by 4. Then agian the foot may hit cutie tail and open up a whole new can of worms.

A warm hug could be awkward. A pat on the shoulder, impossible.
Not delivering a swift return kick to the 'y' region of the legs with sufficient force that feet leave the ground and rise for several inches strikes ME as being pretty compassionate. But refusing to engage in tit for tat violence might be considered less compassionate and more turning the other cheek.

(Gad, the potential for puns and double entendres in this situation is almost off scale.)

I'm not sure compassion will be possible, as Atsali may see the legs and use hers to vanish like the wind.

So, if this is whatever Atsali brought with her (as Cricket put it), what part of Atsali's psyche and inner demons is this? Fear of not being great at reading body language? Fear of what she'd be without her ample acres above her waist? Fear of Surrealism? Fear of sawmill accidents?

The date discrepancy times back to Sunday afternoon, when Monday's comic was posted early. Greg started the thread with a Sunday date. This strip was also posted early, earning it a Nov 30 date rather than Dec 1.
I did consider asking Greg to edit that thread's date, but figured we're all reasonably intelligent folk who could figure it out without my playing "calendar Nazi".
