They're probably off in some nearby corner. Possibly a small reading area, complete with cozy fireplace apparently, and maybe comfy chairs which appear on demand or supplied by the Spanish Inquisition.

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!!!
(sorry, couldn't resist)

Somehow, I doubt Phix lost herself- she just re-connected with her more feral side. For all we know, Nudge might be ticked that she wasn't in on the party... but there is a sort of "WTF!!!" expression on her face... maybe not shocked, but at the very least concerned for her own safety. Phix is more troubled by the emotional bombshell that just hit the fan than the fact that she reduced another paranormal sentience to luncheon material.
Nudge: ... er... did you want fries with that?
Phix: BRAUUUFF!!! ... no... I'm good... UUUURRRP!

Ummm, yikes... yeah, hadn't thought about that, but you're right.
I hope Nudge will be okay. But she's a tough cookie.
Remember - Nudge was also the person who interfered in Shelly's vision quest ... and didn't mention it till directly asked ... and still didn't give the reason till much later.

Nudge seems to have an ... interesting ... confidentiality policy.

How does she type with those boxing gloves on her hands?
My normal answer might be "She tricks the keyboard into typing on itself."
This time, however, I must say "What boxing gloves?"
Information required to fully appreciate that question... :)

Nudge is lucky she was Elsewhere for the first millennium or so Phix was locked in the Library.

OTOH, just like diamonds and goodness, mayhap "luck" had noting to do with it.

The same way I get my shoulders through narrow doors, one at a time. (There are days when my shoulders bulk up wider than the door to the bathroom (24") and I have just gotten used to putting the shoulder furthest from the hinge through first, then moving away from the hinge and getting the other shoulder through). There seems to be plenty of room for her horns when she does that.

Through the thousands of years Phix and Nudge have known each other, I do believe Nudge has seen this sceen (this mess) before  ... but just not recently (in the last few hundred years). Phix had changed. She was not the killing Sphynx she was many years ago. :)
But now , with secret knowledge divolged of family involvement :o ... She got mad. First at Bia (knocked her through the wall) and staied mad after that. She used the anger to move up in ranking (through some poor Guardian she happen to find).
Now does regret settle in?
Do us proud, Paul. Show us - your fans - how all these happening are tied together and make sence (like you have done so many times in the past), so we can look at it and say ...
"Oh, Yes! Now I understand. And would/might have done the same thing."
(Except the 'EATTING' of the Guardian part.)

What's behind door number 3? It could be anything at all, and only tomorrow will tell the tale.

I applied lateral thinking to the problem. In other words, I think she went through laterally.
So...if she borrowed this, viewtopic.php?f=14&t=14#p555, she could go through figuratively?

Perhaps.

Let's not forget that while Bia is the one who played Phix and her kid, Nudge is the person who knew about it...

Unless there are much deeper machinations going on, which I would certainly not yet rule out.
That right there is probably enough to make Nudge lunch if she's not careful.
But nudge was in hiding from Phix at that time.

Did Phix really not know? We know she left the library from time to time and would have clandestinely gone to check on her son surely. Could she not see through Bia's "disguise?" Could she be that totally fooled. Especially during the faked death. I would think she would have heard about that and checked it out in some way. Heck, she has access to the demon world. They are behind the scenes in everything. Some of them would know. I think her anger was sparked by the fact she knew about it all, sucking it up all these years, and didn't like having her nose rubbed in it right then.

Maybe she knew, and knew that in the long run, something she's very familiar with, it WAS the best idea.
Doesn't make it hurt any less, I'm sure...
